Lady Leopards struggle against Lady Wildcats, fall 51-16

It was rough going for the Malvern Lady Leopards basketball team as they took on the Episcopal Collegiate Lady Wildcats Tuesday in Little Rock.

Despite taking an early lead in the first quarter, the Lady Leopards couldn’t stop the Lady Wildcats who would go on to get the win 51-16 over the Lady Leopards. The Lady Leopards will look to rebound from their loss as they travel to Sheridan Friday.

In the first quarter, the Lady Leopards hit two baskets, one 3-pointer, to take an early 5-2 lead over the Lady Wildcats down to the 6:38 mark. After that, the Lady Wildcats went on a 20-point run down to the 38 second mark to lead 22-5. The Lady Leopards were able to break the run at the 38 second mark with two made free throws. The Lady Wildcats made one more goal before the end of the first to take a 24-7 lead.

In the second, the Lady Leopards were held scoreless while the Lady Wildcats added another 16-points to their total. The Lady Wildcats made five of six free throws, four field goals, and a 3-pointer to lead 40-7 at the half.

The Lady Leopards rebounded from their scoreless second quarter with one made basket in the third quarter. The Lady Leopards made a 3-pointer to open the third quarter and trail 40-10. After that it was all Lady Wildcats who scored nine-points to lead 49-10. The Lady Wildcats only scored once in the fourth quarter to end the night with a total of 51 points scored. The Lady Leopards added six-points, one 3-pointer and three free throws, to end the game with 16 total points.
