Lady Warriors cruise to 56-point victory over Lady Red Devils

DONALDSON — The Ouachita Lady Warriors had no problem securing victory against the visiting Mt. Pine Lady Red Devils Tuesday 69-13 on the Ouachita High School AllCare Pharmacy Court in senior high girls basketball action at Ouachita High School Gymnasium.

The Lady Warriors’ trio of Lizzy Rowton, Emma Williams and Gabby Buras led the surge by posting in double-figures for blazing first half performanc­es in Ouachita’s 56-point home win.

Rowton and Williams both outscored the Lady Red Devils entire team and led the Lady Warriors in scoring with 14 points apiece—all in the first half. Rowton accounted for 10 points in the first quarter. Buras followed with a productive 12 points from the post area to complete a triple-threat of double-digit performanc­es for Ouachita.

Overall, the Lady Warriors all contribute­d productive­ly to allow the entire bench playing time. Ouachita maintained a 29-0 first quarter dominance due to stellar defense against Mt. Pine. In the second quarter, the Lady Warriors dropped 17 points in the basket and defensivel­y held the Lady Red Devils two baskets from the field. At the break, the Lady Warriors had a commanding 46-4 lead against Mt. Pine.

In the second half, Ouachita kept their spark to outshine Mt. Pine 23-9. After three periods of action, the Lady Warriors led the Lady Red Devils 61-8. In the fourth quarter, the clock ran continuous­ly with the sportsmans­hip rule in effect—but the Lady Warriors kept their spark by adding eight more points on the scoreboard. The Lady Red Devils managed to post five points on the scoreboard in the final quarter of action.

For the game, Lady Warriors’ Emma Kyzer had five points with a trifecta from behind the arc. Linsey Sirratt and Tessa Kuykendall each posted four points apiece, Lauren Daniell finished with three points. Grace Baker and Josie Stafford each drilled a trifecta for three points apiece, Aileen Ables and Jenna Schweitzer each contribute­d two points apiece for the Lady Warriors.

Ouachita Lady Warriors wrap up their week of action facing Benton Harmony Grove at home, and travel to Oden tonight for senior high girls hoop action.
