Warriors fall short, Jr. Warriors prevail in home battles against Harmony Grove

DONALDSON — The Ouachita Warriors and Jr. Warriors split home wins on the hardwood last Thursday hosting Benton Harmony Grove Cardinals in senior and junior high boys basketball action on the Ouachita High School All-Care Pharmacy Court at Ouachita High School Gymnasium.

In junior high hoops, the Jr. Warriors were dominant the entire 24 minutes of action to top the Jr. Cardinals 48-22 and remain unbeaten at home this season. For the game, Jr. Warriors’ Trey Cox led all scorers with 15 points and Cameron Mattingly finished with 11 points and drilled one trey (3-pointer) from behind the arc for double-figures. Kaiden Bahr posted nine points and swished a trey, Caden Lee contribute­d four points, Luke Howard, Colton Braswell each added two points apiece. Garrett Pickens drilled a trey for three points, Easton Kyzer and Noah Waters each chipped in one point from the charity stripe.

In senior high boys action, the Warriors brought the intensity early and competed competitiv­ely, but came up short of victory to the Cardinals, 45-31. At the break, the Warriors only had a three-point deficit to the Cardinals 22-19 going into the locker room. In the second half, the Warriors displayed sparks but the Cardinals outscored Ouachita 12-8 in the third quarter—which Ouachita trailed 34-27 at the end of three quarters. In the fourth, the Warriors were held to four points while the Cardinals added nine points to secure the 14-point victory against the Warriors.

For the game, Warriors’ Rhett Lee led the scoring core with 16 points and drilled four trifectas from downtown behind the arc to post in double-figures. Caden Morrison and big man Tanner Furr each added four points, Kaden Fulmer hit a trey for three points, Bralyn Maynard and Kelton Fowler each finished with two points for a bucket apiece.
