COVID-19 Vaccine Postpones Christ’s Return?

- Vernon Maupin is the husband of Doris Walters Maupin, Pastor of Tabernacle of Praises

Not on your life! Jesus Christ’s return from heaven to earth does not depend on what people are doing. Every single plan which God has made will be fulfilled exactly as he schedules it, and those events will fit into his timetable, not ours. “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19). We are not lord over him: Father God and Yeshua Jesus Christ are Lord over us! We can ask him for help in time of need, but we can’t manipulate nor control him.

The COVID-19 vaccine may or may not prove to save lives. Regardless, it’s sad that in our modern society, too many people look for a savior everywhere except where that most awesome Savior actually is - in the church of Jesus Christ! We still need Jesus, because the time of Tribulation is still approaching: it has not been erased from God’s schedule.

When it actually begins, that Tribulation will be worse than anything that has happened to the civilized world, including the current coronavirus epidemic. “For then shall be great Tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened” (Matthew 24:21-22).

That Tribulation is still on God’s calendar. Seismographs, vaccines, and peace treaties won’t prevent the earthquakes, pestilent diseases, and wars foretold in Luke 21:9-11. The devices of man only come into use after the fact. There is only thing that can deliver you from the effects of that upcoming Tribulation.

Many foolish people laugh at the prospect of their bodies being transformed into angelic celestial immortal incorruptible bodies. They scoff in disbelief about the thought of being caught up to heaven with Jesus Christ and the angels. They act as if they have no comprehension whatsoever about what’s printed in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Corinthians 15:49-54; Luke 20:36; John 14:2-3. And yet those Bible verses explain what will happen on the day when elect saints of Jesus Christ escape from the Tribulation.

In our lifetimes, we can see Tribulational conditions developing. “When ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand” (Luke 21:31). “When these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh” (Luke 21:28). “For as a snare shall it [the Tribulation of Luke 21:8-34] come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man” (Luke 21:35-36).

Yes, there will be Christian and Israeli “elect saints” not taken to heaven with the Son of Man, Jesus. They will be left on earth during the Tribulation. “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock” (Matthew 7:21-24).

It’s too late to pack your bags for a trip after the plane has already left the airport. Please keep yourselves ready, praying in faith, and serving Jesus Christ and his Father, God every day. And not just to get something from him, but because you love him.
