2 Corinthians 13: 13

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. What are you too busy for?

Come on now. We’ve all used that excuse for something this week. We’re too busy to read a book to the kids. We’re too busy to write a letter to our aunt. We’re too busy to stop by the nursing home. We’re too busy to cook supper.

We’re too busy to volunteer to build a home for the needy. We’re too busy to plan a vacation. We’re way too busy to plan a mission trip. We’re too busy to be a teacher at Sunday School. Or a volunteer at the Cub scouts. We’re too busy to visit with an old friend. We’re too busy to remember to pray.

We’re a busy people. Unless we’re planning out down time. Then we have time to see a movie.

We have time to watch a television show. We have time to drink another beer. We have time to wax our car. We have time to play our video game. We have time to read that crime novel. We have all kinds of time to waste, but we’re too busy to devote time to others.

I think it’s time to stop being busy and start spending time with each other.

God didn’t call us to be a busy people. God called us to be a people in fellowship with one another. Praying for each other, helping each other, being there in times of need and crying when they cry. The cure for empty, hollow, busy lives is simple.

Find fellowship. In a church family you’ll find people who care for you and in return you’ll care for them. In a church family you’ll come to understand that sometimes the most important times in life are the ones that make us stand still.

If you want the most out of life, find a fellowship to be a part of. It’s why Jesus created the Church. Let us pray. Our gracious God. We thank you today for the friends and family we find in our Churches. We ask that your blessings of love and grace will fall upon them and strengthen their love for each other.

In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
