Glen Burks, age 76 of Traskwood, died Thursday, December 24, 2020 in North Little Rock. He was born in Garland County on December 28, 1943 to the late William Burks and Myrtle Green Burks. Reared and educated in Hot Spring County, he was a carpenter. Glen worked for Phillips Homes for 30 years, and then became a private contractor. Over the years, Glen built and remodeled many homes and businesses. He wouldn’t acknowledg­e his own expertise, but everyone for whom he worked saw him as a Master Carpenter for the precise way in which he practiced his art. He framed houses and also did the finish work, built cabinets, did intricate millwork including crown moulding, door frames, base shoe, and called it all “piddling around”. Glen was a Christian. He taught Sunday School and shared his faith with anyone he met. Glen was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Traskwood. He loved farming and working on his tractor and combine. A loving husband, father, grandfathe­r, and great-grandfathe­r, he was married to Doris Crutchfiel­d on July 3, 1969. She survives him.

He is also survived by his two daughters, Teresa Lewis and her husband, Danny, of Traskwood, and Tracy Chandler and her husband Mickey of Glen Rose; a brother, Bo Burks and his wife, Martha of Benton; a sister, Rilla McCaslin and her husband Russ of Visalia, California; four grandchild­ren, Dustyn Lewis, Devin Lewis, Caitlyn Chandler, and Cody Chandler; four great-grandchild­ren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Glen was also preceded in death by siblings Gail Burks, Lloyd Burks, Leard Burks, Bonnie Kuhn, and Pauline Saling.

His funeral will be on Thursday afternoon, December 31, 2020, at two o’clock in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Brother Dustyn Lewis officiatin­g. Glen will be interred in Francois Cemetery.
