5 Lady Warriors post in double-figures to secure 18-point victory against Woodlawn in holiday hoops
DONALDSON — Five Ouachita Lady Warriors—Lizzy Rowton, Linsey Sirratt, Allison McIntosh, Gabby Buras and Emma Williams provided impressive scoring nights Monday on the Ouachita High School AllCare Pharmacy Court to secure a 18-point home victory against the Woodlawn Lady Bears 71-53 in senior high girls basketball action at OHS Gymnasium.
Rowton led all scorers for another solid performance with 18 points. Following Rowton’s stellar performance was hot shooting by Sirratt posting 14 points, McIntosh pouring 13 points and Williams dropping 12 points. Buras finished strong in the post area with 12 points to produce a Ouachita Lady Warrior Fab Five posting in double-figures.
Williams drilled two trifectas from behind the arc, while Sirratt and McIntosh each nailed a trey apiece from downtown to propel the Lady Warriors in a convincing winning performance for the OHS gymnasium hoop fans Monday.
In the first quarter, Ouachita soared to a 17-10 advantage over Woodlawn—resulting in a slim seven-point edge for the Lady Warriors going into the second period.
Defensively, the Lady Warriors sparked with productive team defense full-court and outscored Woodlawn 15-7 in the second.
At the break, the Lady Warriors held a 32-17 lead over the visiting Lady Bears going into the locker room.
In the second half, the Lady Bears created a run, but the Lady Warriors stayed in control and never trailed or surrendered their lead.
In the third quarter, the Lady Warriors were outscored by Woodlawn 20-19, but Ouachita maintained a commanding 5137 lead after three quarters of action.
With a 14-point advantage in the fourth, the Lady Warriors’ McIntosh went on a scoring spree and soared for 11 points scored in the period.
McIntosh and Williams both swished two key trifectas from behind the arc, while Rowton and Buras controlled the pace with productive buckets from the field.
The Lady Warriors moved the ball around productively, which opened the inside play for Buras to spark in the paint area for key scoring.
For the game, Lady Warriors’ guard Tess Kuykendall contributed two points, but took control of handling the ball productive with key onball defense for Ouachita.
The Lady Warriors will carry their momentum into the new year following the holiday break to return for more senior high girls basketball competition in January 2021.
