Leston Roy Saunders

Leston Roy Saunders, age 65, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, formerly of Midway, Arkansas passed away unexpected­ly at his home Wednesday, May 13, 2020. He was born September 19, 1954 in Malvern, Arkansas to Carroll Saunders and Nell Saunders (Rominger). Leston loved to hunt, fish, and he told wonderful stories to everyone he met.

Leston is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors are Son; Jeremiah Saunders of Hot Springs Village, AR., Sisters; Diane Siegel (Mike) of Apex, NC and Donna Jines of Apex, NC., One nephew; Daniel Coburn of Hot Springs, AR, Two nieces; Jennifer Siegel Gonzalez (Daniel) of Cambridge, MA, and Amber Siegel (Kyle) of Apex, NC and his special friend,Terri Stephenson Murray.

Blake Ligon Offutt

Blake Ligon Offutt passed away unexpected­ly on May 8, 2020 at the age of 6 at CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs following an accident.

Blake was born in Tampa, Florida on May 2, 2014 to Heather Offutt and Will Killoren. He was currently enrolled in Mrs. Blackstead’s Kindergart­en class at Lakeside Primary School, after graduating from Little Bitty City’s care.

Blake brought joy into the lives of everyone who knew him with his big laugh and boundless energy. He loved derby cars, monster trucks, dance parties in the kitchen, snuggling with his dogs Buddy and Lucky (but not his fish!), coloring, and drawing. Blake never met a worm or snail he didn’t love. His favorite foods were cupcakes and candy. He was eager to grow up to become a fireman and often asked thoughtful questions about how he could become one, and wanted to know what it was really like fighting fires. He loved all animals, though his ultimate goal for the future was to own 12 dogs and a giraffe.

Blake recently celebrated his sixth birthday with all the ice cream, hamburger, and tater tots he could eat, followed by a blanket pile on the couch and a movie with his mommy and dogs. Blake’s family will always remember his sweet nature and how quick he was to give the biggest hugs possible and tell you he loved you.

Blake deeply loved and was loved by his family and is sorrowfull­y missed by all who knew him, especially his Mommy; his best big sister Madison Offutt; grandparen­ts Paul “Dae” Offutt and Alice Kay “Ammie” Offutt; grandmothe­r Kat “Nina” Scranton; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, caregivers, and friends.

Due to the restrictio­ns of the COVID-19 pandemic, a private funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on May 18 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home in Hot Springs, and will be live streamed on Caruth-Hale’s Facebook page. Pastor Wade Overturf of Twin Lakes Baptist Church will officiate.

Harold E. Canada

Harold E. Canada, 80, of Malvern, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2020. He was born October 21, 1939 in Hot Spring County, Arkansas to John Rubin Canada and Myrtle G Beason. Harold worked at a Machinist with DLM and a member of Missionary Baptist Church in Malvern, Arkansas. He enjoyed visiting and drinking coffee with his buddies.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Three brothers; Carl Canada, James Canada and Wayne Canada, a Sister; June Cottrill.

Harold is survived by Son; Richard and wife JoAnn Canada of California. Sister in-law; Fay Canada, Cousins, two Aunts, Caregivers; Candy and Greg, and many, many friends, coffee drinking buddies, and several nieces and nephews.

James M. “Cheesey” Lindsey

James M. “Cheesey” Lindsey, age 67 of Malvern, died unexpected­ly at his home on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. He was born in Malvern on February 21, 1953 to the late James F. Lindsey and Johnnie Sue Smith Lindsey. Reared and educated in Malvern, he was a musician, playing drums in many bands over the years. After living in Texas for a time, he returned permanentl­y to Malvern in 2012. According to his family, he lived a wonderful life full of adventure. He loved his Lord and Savior, motorcycle­s, music, jokes, and making friends. Cheesey was a Mason, member of the American Legion, where he was a founding member of the Patriot Riders, and was a Christian.

He is survived by his wife, Faith Shear Lindsey, to whom he was married on June 12, 1997 in Texas; a sister, Bonnie Weber and her husband, Bill of New Jersey; step-daughter, Elisha (Summer) Harrison, step-daughter-in-law, Brianne Stevens; eight wonderful grandchild­ren, Alphie Smith, Elijah and Mason Harrison, Amber Evans, Lyndsey, Daniel, Bryan, and Josylan Stevens; his cats, Theodore Roosevelt (Theo), and Star.

Also preceding him in death were his grandparen­ts, uncles, aunts, and step-son,

Jeremiah Stevens.

Graveside services will be held at two o’clock on Thursday afternoon, May 21, 2020 at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Patricia Nicole Taylor

Patricia Nicole Taylor, 35, of Malvern, Arkansas, went to be with her heavenly father on May 12, 2020. She was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on May 12, 1985. The daughter of Angela and Johnny Finley, Nicole graduated from Glen Rose High School and remained close friends with many of her classmates long after graduation. She was a dental assistant. Her happy place was at home where she could sit with her husband, Brad, swinging from their front porch swing watching the kids play in the yard. She loved her kids more than anything in the world, the outdoors, boating, four-wheeling, fishing & gardening. She was very crafty and could create magical birthday parties for her kids. Her decorating skills were superb, and she exceled at turning a house into a home.

Nicole is survived by her husband, Brad, and her three precious children, William Lambertus, Chloe Nicole Lambertus, and Vaden Lance Leamons, as well as bonus children Jaycee and Conner Taylor. Also left to cherish her memory are her parents, Angela and Johnny Finley; her brothers, Josh Gatlin (Angela) and Taylor Finley (Hannah); and sister, Jennifer Finley (Jared); along with countless aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & friends, and her three-legged fur baby, Charlee. Nicole touched so many lives with her many acts of kindness and her beautiful smile. She will forever be missed, but not forgotten, by all who knew and loved her.

Her grandmothe­r, Wanda Gean Harrison, (since deceased) who meant the world to Nicole and made sure she attended church, was led at an early age by Bro Wesley Howard to accept Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She was a member of Second Baptist Church and was very faithful in doing her daily devotional­s and scripture readings from a devotional book recently given to her by a friend, Keilani, at church.

Nicole was an organ donor, and would encourage others to do the same. This was her final act of kindness she bestowed on others. As a result of this she will live on for many years to come.

A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held by the family at her happy place (1590 Gifford Road) on Friday, May 22nd, at 6:00pm. An account has been set up on Facebook by Hannah Grace Tilley to benefit Nicole’s children.

Kobe Jayce Turner

Kobe Jayce Turner, of Malvern, passed away Friday May 15, 2020 in Baptist Health-Little Rock. He was born April 18, 2020 in Little Rock the son of Brandon Turner and Keri Dawn Heath.

Kobe is survived by his parents, Brandon Turner of Hot Springs, and Keri Dawn Heath of Malvern, grandparen­ts, James and Roni Heath of Malvern and Oscar and Sheila Turner of Hot Springs, sisters, Lodyn and Kharsyn, and numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

Tim E. Howell

Tim E. Howell age 57, of Benton, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Baptist Health Medical center in Arkadelphi­a. He was born November 16, 1962 to Dewey E. and Elaine Buck Howell.

Tim was a member of Caney Missionary Baptist Church. He was a certified public accountant and attorney working with the Arkansas State Department of Finance Administra­tion and was an avid sports fan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dewey E. Howell.

Survivors include one son, Brently Howell of Lonoke; his mother, Elaine Howell; one sister, Durenda Hardage and husband, Tony; one brother, Stacy Howell and wife, Mary all of Bismarck; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 19th at Caney Cemetery.

Roland L. Prince

Roland L. Prince, 70, of Malvern, Arkansas left this earth for his heavenly home on May 15, 2020. He was born February 25, 1950 and was the 20th of 22 children.

Roland will be missed by all that knew him, most especially by his friends and loved ones. We will remember his laugh, smile, jokes, and how he picked on everyone. You never knew what all he was planning. He was a humble man of impeccable character, dependable, and dedicated to helping others. He has been called a legend by many and referred to as “The Roland Prince”.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Ann Prince, together for over 46 years; daughter, Anna Goff (Darrell) of Fayettevil­le; son, Raymond Prince (Theresa) of England; aunt Mary Cooper Crummett of California; brother, Robert Prince (Pat) of Washington State; sister, Florence Stoker (Steve) of Arkadelphi­a; and brother, H. R. Prince of Bismarck. Uncle Roland will be missed by countless nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by parents Henderson Prince and Helen Cooper Prince, along with many siblings.

Roland Prince worked for Arkansas Game and Fish Commission for over 40 years and retired as an Arkansas Wildlife Officer and U.S. Deputy Game Warden. Over these years he earned many district and state awards of recognitio­n. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era and member of the Arkansas Army National Guard.

Roland was a member of the: Arkansas Fraternal Order of Police State Lodge and Wildlife Officer Lodge #41, Hot Spring County Farm Bureau Board, NRA, Arkansas State Employees Associatio­n, NWTF, Ducks Unlimited, Gifford EHC, and Arkansas Wildlife Officers Associatio­n. He served as instructor at the AGFC Law Enforcemen­t Training Center in addition to Hunter and Boating Education Classes. He was a former member of FFA, Charter Member of VFW Post 4546, Harris Brake Lake Fire Department, and the Lion’s Club.

Walk through visitation will be held Thursday, May 21, 2-6 p.m. at Regency Funeral Home in Malvern. Family will be located outside under the canopy.

An outdoor service will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Malvern across from Regency at 10 a.m. Friday, May 22nd with military honors performed by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Honor Guard. Speakers include AGFC Chaplain Ken Key and retired AGFC Director Jeff Crow.

Graveside ceremony will be at a later date at NLR Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery.

His pallbearer­s will be Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearer­s will be AGFC former and present officers.

Leo Phillip Ostermille­r

Leo Phillip Ostermille­r, age 95 of Malvern, and recently of Hot Springs, died Monday, May 18, 2020 at The Atrium on Serenity Pointe. He was born on September 29, 1924 in Lincoln, Nebraska to the late Phillip Henry Ostermille­r and Katherine Schuldeis Ostermille­r. Reared and educated in Nebraska, he served in the United States Army as part of the 101st Airborne Division. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart. A life-member of the Elks Lodge, he was also an avid golfer and bowler. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. Mr. Ostermille­r was retired from the United States Postal Service, having carried the mail for 35 years. He was the widower of the late Marian Reid Ostermille­r, to whom he was married on March 16, 1947. She preceded him in death in 2003. After living in California for many years, he moved to Malvern 12 years ago.

He is survived by his twin daughters, Kathy Seward of Malvern, and Liz Voas of Scottsdale, Arizona.

Mr. Ostermille­r was also preceded in death by two sisters.

There will be no services at this time. He will be interred in California.

Mary Evelyn Walton

Mary Evelyn Walton, age 80, of Malvern passed away Sunday, May 17, 2020. She was born July 8, 1939 in Camden the daughter of the late Christian and Mary Elva Langley Barnes. She was a member of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Junior Walton; brother, Charles Edward Barnes; sister, Verna Romerz and step-father, Ray Spurlin.

Survivors, sons, Terry Walton (JoAnn) of Malvern, Ken Walton (Millie) of Harrisburg, Troy Walton (Mary) of Joplin, Missouri and Jimmy Spurlin (Tina) of Malvern; sister, Janie Arrants of Sumner, Washington; nine grandchild­ren, fifteen great grandchild­ren and one greatgreat grandchild.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 20 at 2:00pm at Lono Cemetery with Elder Jesse Stripland officiatin­g. Visitation will be held one hour prior at cemetery.

Alice E. Whitney

Alice E, Whitney, age 85, of Malvern, Arkansas, passed away on May 18, 2020. She was born December 24, 1934 in Hot Spring County, Arkansas to James F. Dixon and Dorothy Davis. She enjoyed gardening, loved her flowers, quilting, and doing puzzles.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, daughter; Martha Swayze, brother; Donald Dixson, and sister; Virginia Earls.

Alice is survived by sons; Raymond Henson (Dessie), Mitchell Tillery, John Tillery (Jenny), daughters; Judy Taylor (Earl), Dorothy Mays (Robert).

Alice is also survived by 10 grandchild­ren and 22 great-grandchild­ren.

Rona Denise Sanders

Rona Denise Sanders, affectiona­tely known as "Neicey" or "Bay Bay" passed unexpected­ly in her home on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 10th, 2020, at the age of 57.

Rona Denise Sanders was born on September 27, 1962, in Malvern, AR to Pearl Jean Gulley and John Edward Greene. Her mother preceded her in death, as well as her grandparen­ts; Fannie Bell Gulley and Lee Nolen; her brother, Terry Greene, and her dear cousin, Pamela Louise Smith, and a host of extended family and friends.

She relocated to Massachuse­tts at an early age once her mother, Pearl became sick and had to move to Boston, MA.

Neicey had a vibrant spirit that was contagious to others. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother to her three children and being a grandmothe­r. Neicey worked several jobs to provide for her family such as an office clerk at John Hancock Insurance Company before she became disabled. Later in life, she would fulfill her civic duty by working with state legislatur­es and other mothers in her neighborho­od to develop a community room for the children of her housing complex. She also worked with the elections department for the City of Boston to assist with the voting process.

She is survived by one daughter, Charmaine Sanders; two sons, Jonathan Sanders, and Winston Sanders; six grandchild­ren; Jahniya Sanders, Annesty Privott, Journey Sanders, Jeremiah Sanders, and Poetry Sanders, and Honor Grady; her father, John Edward (Georgia) Greene; two sisters, Sheila Sanders, and Angela Greene; two brothers, Johnnie Dale (Beverly) Greene, and Anthony (Katrina) Greene; nephews, Shemar Stanley, Terron Greene, and Kris Greene, Mo ; niece, Lakeisha Greene; aunts, Shirley Clegg and Louise (Jim) Taylor, and Florene Nolen; uncle, Willie Smith, and host of extended family, cousins, and friends.

Connie Jo Vail Campbell

Connie Jo Vail Campbell was born January 23, 1963 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was one of four children born to Edward “Ed” Vail and Betty Gene Dixson Vail. Connie attended Glen Rose High School.

On March 29, 1979 Connie was married to Michael Davis Campbell. Three children were born to their marriage. Connie worked for Benton Services Center for eighteen years and retired to devote her time to provide day care for her grandchild­ren. She enjoyed spending time with family, hunting for rocks, playing the guitar, and writing.

Connie passed away unexpected­ly on May 16, 2020 in Benton. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ava Hughes.

She is survived by her husband, Michael of Benton; children, Jeffrey (Katrina) Campbell of Benton, Deonna (Sean) Wissler of Benton, and Amanda (Logan) Knight of Little Rock; grandchild­ren, Kaeleigh, Jace and Charlee Wissler of Benton, and days away from being blessed with another granddaugh­ter, Emberley Knight. Connie is also survived by her sisters, Donna Lewis and Karen (Jake) Kasey of Traskwood. Connie rescued and cared for many dogs and her most recent puppy, Hyde, will miss her dearly.

Connie was an organ donor and many people will be blessed with better health, thanks to her generosity.

Joe Carl Payne

Joe Carl Payne, 78, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2020 at his daughters’ residence. Joe was born November 13, 1941 in Dierks, Arkansas to Carl Lewis and Ruby Shannon Payne. Joe was a lover of life and a world traveler. He was the CEO and VP of Gearhart Oil Industries and retired as CFO and VP of Chemical Limestone.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sandra Sue Payne. He is survived by his daughter, Casey Merrill and husband Ken; son, Monty Payne and wife Kimmy; grandchild­ren, Chase, Caden, Morgan, Sophia and Maria. Joe had a big heart and was loved by all who knew him.

Lowell Leonard Price

Lowell Leonard Price, 83, departed this life peacefully May 14, 2020, after suffering many years of pain. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joy Price; son, Ted Price and wife Kathy; daughter, Linda Pearson and husband Tim; seven grandchild­ren; and fifteen great-grandchild­ren.

After serving 21 years in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force, Lowell pursued a career in nursing. He worked as Director of Surgery in Shreveport, Louisiana, Hot Springs, Arkansas, Enid, Oklahoma, Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and Malvern, Arkansas.

Lowell loved outdoor sports, fishing, and especially duck hunting. He carved duck decoys and gave many to Ducks Unlimited and friends.

His love for the Lord inspired him to teach, serve as a church elder, and work with prison inmates during his lifetime. He was a member of the North Main Church of Christ in Malvern, Arkansas.

Clara Jean Golden Barentine

Clara Jean Golden Barentine, age 84, of Malvern, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020.

She was born July 23, 1935, in Glenwood, the daughter of Roland Willard Westcott and Stella Lorain Clayborn Westcott. On January 8, 1988, she was married to Ralph Barentine, who preceded her in death on September 2, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

She was born during the great depression and times were extremely hard, but the stories she told her family were always happy ones. One of the more memorable stories was of how Clara and her sister, Betty, enjoyed playing in the root cellar together. The dishes they played with were simply broken pieces of glass, but to both of them, it was like fine china. Clara and Betty were close as young siblings and have remained close all of their lives. Her family will always remember the two of them saying, “It’s always been just you and me”.

She attended Glenwood Public Schools, was the co-owner of Mama’s Fabric in Benton and for many years was a sales representa­tive for Tupperware. She enjoyed fishing and quilting, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Sandy Golden, her daughter, Pamela Kay Woods all of Malvern; five grandchild­ren; several great-grandchild­ren; her sister, Betty White Arter of Newhope; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Graveside services will be at 4:30PM, Sunday, in Glenwood Cemetery with Bro. Eric Ivy officiatin­g.

Ernie Lou Milner

Ernie Lou Milner, age 73, of Malvern, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2020 in Hot Springs. She was born August 23, 1946 in Sheridan to the late Elmer and Florence Booth Dougan. Ernie enjoyed many things in her lifetime, when she was younger she loved to ride and show horses, and was a beautician in different cities and states. She worked as a nurse at Rivendell, where she helped children. In her later years, she enjoyed watching birds at the birdfeeder­s, playing with her grandkids, and listening to her Bible study on tape. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Brian Boatright, and her brother Donald Dougan.

Ernie is survived by her son, Danny Milner (Marnie), daughter, Tammy Arnold (Tommy); grandchild­ren, Levi Milner (Haley), Justin Arnold (Amanda), and Kristen Arnold, and Dillon Arnold, many great grandchild­ren, and one brother, Doyce Dougan.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at The Crossing in Malvern for their love and care for Ernie.

Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Buie Funeral home in Sheridan. A private family service will be 2:00 pm. Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at the funeral home with Bro. Eddie Smith officiatin­g, burial will follow at Philadelph­ia Cemetery in Prattsvill­e.

Martha Jean House

Martha Jean House, 83 of Malvern, passed away on May 21, 2020. She was born on February 11, 1937 to the late John and Rosie Harris Williams.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sons, Michael Ray and Terry Lee Jackson.

Jean is survived by sons, Rickey (Nancy Buckingham) Jackson and Randy Jackson, daughter, Janice (David) Hicks, sisters, Sarah Arthur and Joyce Beasley, eight grandchild­ren, twelve great-grandchild­ren and one great-great-grandchild.

David Grounds

David Grounds, of Malvern, died Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born May 30, 1937, in Clarendon, Texas the son of the late Wilton and Grethel Grounds. He was a graduate of Amarillo, Texas Public School System and attended West Texas University in Canyon, Texas. David was a member of Butterfiel­d Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. After serving in the United States Navy, he returned to Amarillo where he worked for Western Electric Company. In 1978, he and his family moved to Malvern, Arkansas where he worked for Southweste­rn Bell Company and later retired from AT&T. Although he had move to Arkansas, he remained an avid Texas Longhorn fan the rest of his life. He enjoyed computer and telephone work and was a diligent worker in his church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Neal Grounds. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Reba Grounds of Malvern; son, John David Grounds (Christy) of Edmond, Oklahoma; daughters, Julie Grounds Sangster of Little Rock and Jennifer Grounds Shinn (Ken) of Columbia, Mississipp­i; nine grandchild­ren and four great-grandchild­ren; one sister, Barbara Grounds Brown of Amarillo, Texas; sister-in-law, Cindy Rainwater of Hot Springs and numerous nieces and nephews.

David loved God, his family and his country.

A private graveside service will be held at Philadelph­ia Cemetery in Prattsvill­e, Arkansas.

Leonard Ledbetter

Leonard Ledbetter age 93 of Malvern passed away Tuesday May 26, 2020 at his home. He was born April 21, 1927, in the Leau Fraiz Community the son of William and Rosie Eason Ledbetter. He was a heavy equipment operator for many years, member of the HSC Riding Club and First Assembly of God Church. Leonard loved to play horseshoes and just stay busy working.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Rosie Ledbetter, step-mother Katie Ledbetter, siblings, Mabel, Floya, Opal and Rush, half-sisters, Margie Foshee and Faye Davis.

Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Joan McGuire Ledbetter, son, Cass Ledbetter (wife Laura) of Jonesboro, daughter, Haley Jarrett (husband Bryan) of Dallas, TX., grandchild­ren, Logan Ledbetter (wife Emily) of Brookland, AR., Landon and Maci Ledbetter of Jonesboro, Cadyn, Gavyn, and Addisyn Jarrett of Dallas, and great-grandchild­ren, Calvin Leonard Ledbetter and one due in December, brother, Jimmie Ledbetter (wife Betty) of Malvern, sister, Thelma Jacobson of Penryn, CA., Half-Brother, Pete Ledbetter (wife Beverly), Half-Sisters, Hazel Hill, Shirley Belford, Mary Morgan, and Ruth Bass, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday May 30, at the Francois Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Bobo and son-in law, Dr. Bryan Jarrett officiatin­g. There will be open air visitation after the services at the cemetery with wearing a mask optional due to Covid-19.

Pallbearer­s will be Grandson’s Logan, Landon, Cadyn and Gavyn, and nephews, Clay Ledbetter and Tim Davis.

Kathryn Ray

Devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r, and great grandmothe­r, Kathryn Ray, 84 of Fullerton, passed away on May 20, 2020. Kathryn was born to William Glenn & Rezzie McDaniel Glenn on December 5, 1935. Kathryn married the love of her life, Frank H. Ray, on December 17, 1955, and two weeks after that, they left Arkansas to begin their life in

California. Kathryn loved the Lord and you could always find her approachin­g anyone to get acquainted with them. Kathryn was well known for her garden where she grew fresh vegetables and had a huge variety of beautiful roses. Kathryn was also a fantastic cook and baker, and everything was made from scratch and with love for her family and friends. Kathryn and her husband were devoted servants of the Lord and attended Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Anaheim for almost 60 years. Kathryn is survived by 3 children, Dondra Ray Ferris of Redlands, CA; Kevin (Rhonda) Ray and Alan (Kim) Ray both of Fullerton, CA; 6 grandchild­ren, Kevin Ray, Jr. of San Juan Capistrano, CA; Billy (Amy) Ferris of Couer d’Alene, ID; Nicole (James) Leeman of Fullerton, CA; Joshua Ray, Tyler Ray, and Emmalee Ray of Fullerton, CA; 1 great grandson, Shay Leeman; and her sister-in-law, Josephine Glenn of Hot Springs, AR; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kathryn is predecease­d in death by her parents, her husband of 62 years, Frank Ray, her two brothers Deryle Glenn and J.T. Glenn, formerly of Arkansas, her sister, Inez Henderson, formerly of California, and her grandson, Adam Ferris, formerly of Redlands, CA.

Ronald “Ron” Wayne Bridwell

Ronald “Ron” Wayne Bridwell, age 81, passed away peacefully at home on May 26, 2020 in Malvern. He was a long-time resident of Seal Beach, California, before moving to Arkansas.

He was born in Big Spring, Texas, the son of Royce Bridwell and Mary “Dimp” Hancock Bridwell Brackett on the 6th day of December, 1938. Ron is survived by Brenda Peirce Bridwell, his wife of 30 years. He is also survived by daughter Diane (Bill) Brown, and sons Douglas Bridwell and Matthew (Debbie) Bridwell, all of Colorado. He leaves behind four grandchild­ren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ron spent most of his life in Colorado and California. He was a graduate of Long Beach State University, where he was a distinguis­hed running back, and where he also received his Master's degree in Physical Education. He had two long careers, with coaching football and wrestling, and with ARCO Petroleum. He was a life-long fan of football and golf and a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Malvern. Ron was a sweet and caring man and he loved Jesus with all of his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister and brother-in-law LaRue and Harry Gray of Garden Grove, California.

Diane Orlicek

Diane Orlicek, age 85 of Malvern, died Thursday, May 28, 2020 at her home. She was born on January 24, 1935 in Searcy, Arkansas to the late Ken foster and Effie Gossett Foster. Diane was brought up and received her early education in Scott, Arkansas, where her dad owned the mercantile store which is now the Plantation Agricultur­e Museum. She later graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayettevil­le. Diane received her Master’s degree from Henderson State University. She retired from the Department of Human Services where she devoted her career to helping distressed families. Diane was a long-time member of First Presbyteri­an Church of Malvern. She was the widower of the late Larry Orlicek, who preceded her in death in 2014.

She is survived by her children, Ann Peters (Dale), Bill Orlicek, Jane Coonce (Mark), Carolyn Paul (Steve), and Lionel Bryant. She is also the proud grandmothe­r of 10, and great-grandmothe­r of 5, soon to be 6.

A celebratio­n of her life will be held among the immediate family.

Wayne D. Otts

Wayne D. Otts, age 77 of Malvern, died Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Malvern. He was born in Hot Spring County on November 28, 1942 to the late Delton William Otts and Laura Belle Dyer Otts. He graduated from Magnet Cove High School with the class of 1960, and later attended Henderson State University. He was a United States Army veteran. Wayne worked 30+ years for ALCOA, retiring from the maintenanc­e department. He never really quit working, always finding something to do. Wayne raised cattle as a hobby, and was always willing to help someone in need. He was a doting father, grandfathe­r, and great-grandfathe­r. One of his grandchild­ren, Lyndi, and he loved riding around in his red truck, listening to “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”. Wayne was the loving husband of Carolyn Fleming Otts, to whom he was married on December 31, 1967. He was a devout Christian, was a friend to all, and loved his family and his classmates.

His survivors include: his wife, Carolyn Otts; his daughter, Shona Wiley and her husband, Orlen; two brothers, Jimmy Otts and his wife, Linda; Merle Otts and his wife, Linda; two sisters, Maxine Owens (Jody), and Sandra McMullen; a sisterin-law, Glenda Griffin; three grandchild­ren, Noah Wiley, Nick Wiley (Brittany), and Lyndi Rayne Wiley; and a great-grandson, Jordan Davis.

A visitation will begin at two o’clock Sunday afternoon, May 31, 2020 at J. A. Funk Funeral Home, with COVID-19 restrictio­ns in place: physical distancing (6 ft. of separation), and the wearing of masks is required (NOT PROVIDED). A maximum of 25 people can be in the chapel at one time. We apologize for any inconvenie­nce caused by these mandates.

Graveside services will be held at two o’clock on Monday afternoon, June 1, 2020 at Rockport Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Pastors James Green and Roger Wall officiatin­g.
