Gary Lisenbey

Gary Lisenbey, 60, of Rockport, Arkansas passed away August 7, 2020. He was the son of the late Robert and Sue Lisenbey. Gary is survived by his wife of 33 years Shena; sons Andrew (Brittney) Lisenbey of Lonsdale, Steven (Alexsis) Lisenbey of Malvern and Stephen (Shanna) Hibbard of Magnet Cove; brother Lee (Lynda) of Rockport; sister Shirley (David) Nunley of Butterfiel­d; a host of family and many dear friends!

There was nothing in this world more important to him than his grandkids Kimberly, Liam, Kane, and Hollis Lisenbey, Cayden and Paetyn Hibbard, Ryan Curran, and Gabbi and Cash Weatherley.

Elizabeth Daniel Slate

Elizabeth Daniel Slate, age 92, of Malvern passed away August 16, 2020. She was born February 18, 1928 to J.O. and Mayme Cochran Daniel. She was a Member of North Malvern Assembly of God Church, a homemaker and excellent seamstress. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H.L. Slate Sr., to whom she married in 1949; siblings, Wilner Daniel, F.J. Daniel, Kenneth Daniel, Joy Hardy, Imogene Mullica Marvin Daniel and J.L. Daniel.

Survivors include her sons, H.L. (Buddy) Slate Jr. of Little Rock, Gary Slate of Hot Springs and Rick Slate of Clarksvill­e; two grandchild­ren, Brian Slate and Tyler Slate; brothers, Charles Daniel of Malvern and Don Daniel of Visalia, CA; sister, Audrey Daniel Brenton of Malvern and a special thanks to Betty Hardy Arivette for her devotion to Mrs. Slate.

A drop in viewing will be Thursday, August 20 from 9:00am to 4:30pm at Regency Funeral Home.

John Parker

John Parker, age 87, of Malvern passed away Monday, August 17, 2020. He was born April 3, 1933, the son of the late Ernest and Florence Cooper Parker. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the Army Signs Corp. John was retired from J.M. Huber Corporatio­n, Chemicals Division, Etowah, Tennessee and Havre de Grace, Maryland. He loved flying and was a certified flight instructor in his younger years. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, in Malvern and The Chastain Bible class. John had a passion and talent for woodworkin­g, and created many cherished pieces for friends and family. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Katherine “Billie” McDonald and Martha “Martha Jean” Cantrell and brothers, Gaylen Parker and Narvel Eddy “Nody” Parker.

He is survived by his wife, of 65 years, Laverne Parker; daughters, Karen (Harry) Jobe of Little Rock and Connie (Mark) Atkinson of Malvern; sister, Ernestine (Anthony) DeMarco of Blue Bell, Pennsylvan­ia; granddaugh­ter, Lindsay Atkinson; grandsons, John Jobe, Jason (Sandra) Jobe; step-grandson, Shane Jobe; step-great grandson, Coen Jobe; sisterin-laws, Elizabeth Parker of Arcadia, Louisiana, Delilah Parker of Farmersvil­le, Texas and Melba Bagley of El Dorado and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 19 from 6:00-7:00pm at Regency Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 20 at 2:00pm at Hopewell Baptist Church near El Dorado. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. Pallbearer­s will be Randy Bagley, Jeff Owens, Kevin Owens, Doug Baker, James Primm and Shorty McDonald. Honorary pallbearer­s will be Ted Woodworth, Jessie Archuleta and Jim Burke.

Edwin Lavell Finney

Edwin Lavell Finney, age 82, of Malvern passed away August 17, 2020. He was born October 17, 1937, in Nashville, AR to Sidney and Zelona Bagwell Finney. Mr. Finney was in the sheetrock and cabinet making business. He was a United States Navy Veteran, serving on the U.S.S. Shangri La and was a Baptist. His favorite past times were his family, playing his guitar and his dogs. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Inez Finney; two children, Jim David Finney and Brenda Gail Hope; grandson, Zachary Coates and two brothers, Don and Allen Finney.

Survivors include his daughter, Judith (Kyle) Keeney of Malvern; son, Carl W. Finney; sister, Wanda Rogers of Malvern; five grandchild­ren, Ty Finney, William W. (Amber) Hope, Jonathan (Devan) Hope, Lacee (Seth) Glidewell and Seth Coates; eight great grandchild­ren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be private, for family only, Thursday, August 20 at 10:00am at Regency Funeral Home Chapel with Seth Glidewell officiatin­g. A public visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service. Charles Larry Rowland Jr.

Charles Larry Rowland Jr age 73 of Malvern passed away August 17, 2020. He was born January in Malvern to Charles Larry Sr and Annie Mae Lackey Rowland. He worked for West Bend for many years and graduated from Malvern High School. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Anita Phillips.

Survivors include his brother in law Clark Phillips from Leola.

Connie Bruns

After valiantly battling Parkinson’s and congestive heart failure for years, and more recently COVID-19, Connie Bruns passed away unexpected­ly, yet peacefully, on August 15, 2020; she was born on May 7, 1925. While her family misses her, we are grateful that she is experienci­ng the presence of Jesus and now knows as she has been known.

She is survived by 3 sons, David (Becky), Keith (Linda), Rick (Michelle), a daughter, Nancy Ross (John), and a sister, Marlys Vaughn, 13 grandchild­ren, 28 great grandchild­ren, 5 great-great grandchild­ren, and a number of nieces and nephews. She is predecease­d by her husband, Marlyn Bruns, her parents, Henry and Helen Doermann, and a sister, Agatha Oestmann Cavanaugh, and a grandson, Zachary Bruns.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciati­on to Briarwood Nursing Center for their care of our mom for 11 years, particular­ly during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nellie Schales Brantly

Nellie Schales Brantly passed away in Jackson, MS on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at the age of 96. Her husband, Brythel H Brantly, died eleven days earlier. Her daughter, Joan Brantly Morris, preceded her in death in 1998. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Mark Thompson. “Mamma” is survived by three grandchild­ren: Greg Thompson and his wife, Sarah, of Jackson, MS; Melanie Morris Maynor of Webster Groves, Mo and Melissa Morris of New Orleans, LA. She has three great grandchild­ren: Lillian Maynor, Grayson Maynor and John Gordon Thompson.

Nellie Marie Schales was born on July 17, 1924 in Newport, AR to Bertha and Otis Schales. Her surviving siblings are Henry Schales of Donaldson, AR; Juanita Lowery of Walnut Creek, CA; Roy Schales of Brennan, TX; and E.J. Schales of Hurricane, Utah. She is, also, survived by nieces and nephews who had a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by sisters Ruby Swain and Lina Mae and brother, Troy.

Nellie Brantly was married for almost seventy-five years to Brythel. They raised their daughters in Shreveport, LA where they were active members of Ingleside Baptist Church. In 1969, they moved to Monroe, LA where they lived for over a decade and worshipped at North Monroe Baptist Church.

Mrs. Brantly was a lifelong educator. She was a graduate of Henderson State University and earned a post graduate degree from Northeast Louisiana University. She taught at elementary and middle schools in Caddo and Ouachita Parishes. In retirement she continued to tutor many children. Her motto was that all children can learn and she was diligent and creative in her teaching methods.

After a move to Zachary, LA to be near family, Nellie began teaching Sunday school at First Baptist Church. A special teaching highlight was serving in prison ministry with her husband and special friend, Carol Wade.

Nellie will be remembered for her diligence, her commitment to family, and her enjoyment of reading, puzzles, needlework and travel. She loved Jesus and God’s Word as well his Church.

The family is thankful for many faithful friends, Dr. Reagan Elkins, the staffs of Clarity Hospice and Compassus Hospice and special caregiver, Letha Johnson.

A graveside service will be held at Plains Presbyteri­an Memorial Garden, Zachary, LA on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 9:00am. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, please maintain social distancing of six feet and wear a mask at all times.

Pallbearer­s are Craig Blount, Michael Lowery, Grayson Maynor, Harry Morris, Jr, Greg Thompson, John Gordon Thompson, Mark Thompson and James Vicellio.

Linda Delorise Jimerson

Mrs. Linda Delorise Jimerson transition­ed to her heavenly Father on August 17, 2020. Linda was born on June 27, 1953 to George Watson and Catherine Watson-Gamble in Dierks, Arkansas. Linda graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Southern Arkansas University. She dedicated her life to God under the leadership of the late Pastor Nathaniel Marks in the mid-1970s (Powerhouse Church of God in Christ) where she became a faithful and enthusiast­ic youth leader.

In 1979 Linda met her husband of 40 years, Vernon Jimerson and to this union, five children were born. Linda became a member of Marks Memorial Church of God in Christ in 1980. During her time at Marks Memorial, Linda faithfully served as a first lady, lay member, Sunday School teacher, and trustee.

The late Elder Nathaniel Marks once told Linda that she would be the “mother of many children.” Besides her own, Mrs. Jimerson embraced her calling to teach as an extension of her motherhood. Although she taught different grade levels, her favorite was 1st grade where she was able to pass on her love of reading to future generation­s. After Carthage school closed, Mrs. Jimerson continued her career at the Malvern School District where she was honored as

Teacher of the Year in 2009. She retired from the district in 2016.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents – Catherine Watson Gamble & George Watson, brother George Edward Watson, sisters Ella Bea Watson, Debra James, and Mary Louise Wright.

Linda leaves to fondly cherish her memories her husband of 40 years Vernon Jimerson, five children Marian, Matthew, Benjamin, Bethany, and Sarah; one granddaugh­ter Rynn; two sisters Ruthie (David) Mixon and Ocie (Raymond) Newton; close friends Mother Sallie Carter and Mrs. Jacqueline Henson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family whom she loved dearly.

The public walk-through visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 21, 2020 from 6:00-7:00 PM at Christian Way Funeral Home Chapel - 3705 W. 6th Avenue, Pine Bluff. A "Celebratio­n of Life" service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 11:00 AM at First Trinity COGIC - 800 S. Catalpa Street, Pine Bluff.

Donny C. Martin

Donny C. Martin, age 66, lifelong resident of Caney, passed away Monday, August 17, 2020. He was born February 17, 1954 to the late Carrol Martin and Ima Caruthers Martin, in Arkadelphi­a. Donny is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Jean Martin; and son, Jerry Don Martin.

Donny was a man of few words with a strong work ethic that he passed down to his children. He served in the Arkansas National Guard and was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid outdoorsma­n who enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting anything with feathers or fur. In his later years of life, he learned to cherish his grandchild­ren and indoor fur babies.

Donny is survived by his daughters: Kathy Martin Hughes (Aaron), Kim Phillips (Rodney), Ang House, and Julia Rice (Jake); and grandchild­ren, Kyla Martin, McKaylin Martin, Cameron Pacheco, Logan, Landon and Brayden Phillips, Alexis and Ethan Watson, Baileigh, Analiah, Karalie and Maleah Slater; and fur baby, Little Bit.

Graveside service will be 10:00 AM, Friday, August 21, 2020 at Caney Cemetery, with Ralph Ruffin officiatin­g. Rev. Lyndale Harberson

Rev. Lyndale Harberson, age 90, of Glen Rose passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Saline Memorial Hospital. He was born April 19, 1930, in Waldron, Arkansas the son of the late Cyril Opal and Elia Ardene Keisler Harberson. Lyndale served in the United States Air Force. He was an Assembly of God retired minister and attended Glen Rose Assembly of God Church. Lyndale enjoyed spending time at the Malvern Senior Center. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Jenkins Harberson and sons, Charlie Harberson and Carl Harberson.

Hugh David Owen

Hugh David Owen, age 80, went to be with the Lord August 11, 2020. David was born in Conway, Arkansas, July 26, 1940, and lived most of his adult life in Pine Bluff. There he served as Chairman of the Jefferson Count Republican Party and worked as an accountant before retiring to Malvern for the past nineteen years.

He is predecease­d by his parents, William Hugh and Iris Searcy Owen, and his sister, Cherie June Owen. He is survived by his brother, Benjamin R. Owen and Ben’s wife, Elaine.

David like outdoor activities especially fishing, hunting, trapping, and hiking, but he also enjoyed indoor interests such as playing Scrabble and attending Gospel music concerts.

David played football for the White Hall Bulldogs and for the Malvern Leopards, lettering for both teams. After graduating from Ouachita Baptist College with a degree in accounting, he obtained at age twenty-five his credential­s as a Certified Public Accountant, which was his lifelong occupation.

David served in the Arkansas National Guard for six years and assisted in quelling a riot in Pine Bluff when Martin Luther King was assassinat­ed in 1968.

David was a faithful Baptist and a member of the First Baptist Church of Malvern where his funeral will be conducted Monday, August 24, at 11:00 A.M. with visitation preceding at 10:00 A.M. and burial to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park.

Reverend Gary Goldman

Reverend Gary Goldman (Ret.), age 80 of Malvern, died unexpected­ly on Thursday morning, August 20, 2020. He was born in Texarkana, Arkansas on April 11, 1940 to the late Ted Goldman and Alice Small Goldman. Reared and receiving his early education in Texarkana, he earned his B.S.E. degree from Henderson State University in Arkadelphi­a, and later received his Master of Divinity degree from St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a United Methodist minister in Missouri and Arkansas for 40 years, and was an ordained Elder in the Arkansas Conference, where he also served on the Board of Ordained Ministry. Gary loved teaching Bible study and doing volunteer work in the community. He was a member of the Malvern Area Kiwanis Club, and attended Magnet Cove United Methodist Church, where he was known for baking the communion bread. As a minister and a concerned citizen, Gary fought the evils of racism his entire life, and was a mentor to many who sought to right those obvious wrongs. Gary was the husband of Janice Bishop Goldman, to whom he was married on August 21, 1987. He loved being “PawPaw” to his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Janice, of the home; by a daughter and son-inlaw, Jamie and Ernie Larson of Malvern; a brother, Ron Goldman of Dallas; two sisters, Wanda Livsey of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Jeanette Spradley of Wichita Falls, Texas; four grandchild­ren, Lilli Larson, Abi Larson, Jena Minick, and Harrison Hearne.

Gary was also preceded in death by a brother, Ted Goldman.

Shirley Jean Johnson

Shirley Jean Johnson was 71 of Little Rock, AR transition­ed from labor to reward on Aug. 18th, 2020 at her home in Little Rock.She was born April 26, 1949 in Carthage, AR. to the late Henry Taylor and Odelia Lock.

Shirley attended school in Dallas County Public School, she later graduated 2nd in her class with a degree in Early Childhood Education, from Seattle University, in Seattle, WA. She spent most of her life in Washington State, before coming back to Arkansas on 2008.

Shirley was member of Live Oak Baptist Church for 25yrs. Where she served on many different boards. She was a loving mother to many in her community she even went as far as, fostering many over the years.

Shirley was proceed in death by her daughter Quinas Smith, her brother Benny Ray Taylor, her sister Patricia Jones.

She is Survived by her children: Kent Smith (Spouse Jodie), Kelvin Smith, Da'Kiesha Johnson (Fiancé Marcus), her 11 grandchild­ren, 9 great grandchild­ren, her Mother Odeila Lock, Sister's, Annie Ruth Shaw, Jo Ann Dickerson, Lavern Burns, Linda Bryant, Jacqulyn Pearson, Tammy Williams, and her Aunt Nannie Pattillo, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary Lee Shuffield

Mary Lee Shuffield, age 93 of Rockport, died Wednesday, August 12, 2020. She was born on September 20, 1926 in Brown Springs, Arkansas to the late George Parrish and Mary Alice Davidson. Reared and educated in Donaldson, she was the widow of the late J. D. Shuffield, who preceded her in death in 1989. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Mrs. Shuffield loved to make quilts and work crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her son, Jimmie Shuffield and his wife, Debbie of Rockport; five grandchild­ren and five great-grandchild­ren.

Mrs. Shuffield was also preceded in death by a son, Doug Shuffield; a daughter, Mary Ellen Shuffield Robbins; and by two brothers, Guy Parrish and Roy Parrish.

Debbie Spell

Debbie Spell, age 63 of Malvern, died Tuesday, August 18, 2020. She was born on July 13, 1957 in Malvern to the late Hank Howerton and Ima Jean Baker Howerton. Reared and educated in Malvern, for 16 years she was manager of the Tobacco Outlet. Debbie was a Baptist by denominati­on. She was the wife of Richard Spell, to whom she was married on January 13, 1991.

Other survivors are a son, Kevin Howerton of Malvern; two sisters, Brenda Stanley and Teresa Balderas, both of Malvern; her grandchild­ren, and her nieces and nephews.

Debbie was also preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Jerry Fuller.

Robert Andy Morales

Robert Andy Morales entered into eternal life peacefully on August 21, 2020 at the age of 64, in Little Rock, Arkansas surrounded by his immediate family members. Robert, also known as Bob, was born on April 25, 1956 in Corona, California to the late Alfred and Rosa Morales.

The youngest of three siblings and born into a military family, Robert was well-traveled before settling down with his family in Santa Ana, CA by his early teens. After finishing school and attaining his Associate’s Degree, he decided to pursue his passion for drawing and took pride in making a career as an Architectu­ral Draftsman for 30 + years before retiring. Raising his two children in Orange, CA and seeing them through school, he decided to relocate to Malvern, to be closer to his grandchild­ren in 2017. He enjoyed spending time with them and watching them grow up to be his newest pride and joys. Robert enjoyed making memories with his grandchild­ren; watching them participat­e in their extra-curricular activities and being involved in their lives in any and every way possible.

Robert was a great storytelle­r and loved to make people laugh being the jokester that he was. His presence was felt wherever he was and he brought a smile to every person’s face. Whether he was known as “Bumpa”, “Grandpa”, or “dad” he was the best advice giver and a constant protector of those he loved. He leaves behind countless stories and memories that will live on forever. Robert taught us all to live life to the fullest, laugh at ourselves, and love hard.

Robert is survived by the mother of his children Carmen Morales, his son Michael Morales, and his daughter Regina Lopez with her husband Joseph; grandchild­ren: Joseph Lopez Jr., Mia Lopez, and Jesse Lopez; Two siblings: Alfred Morales with his wife Maria and Rachel Parsell with her husband Chris; two nieces: Daniela Morales with her husband Russ and Taylor Parsell with her husband David; two nephews: Alex Morales with his wife Jenn and George Morales Jr., with his wife Esme: One great nephew: Everett Morales; one great nieces: Rosie Bradford; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends in California, Canada, and Germany as well. Robert will be reunited with his mother and father in Westminste­r, California and always live in our hearts forever.

Tommy Cason age 64 of Social Hill passed away August 22, 2020 at his home. He was born April 27, 1956 in Malvern to William and Anna Loy Cason. Tommy was a United States Navy Veteran and self-employed logger. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his brother William Eugene Cason.

Survivors include his wife Jane Cason to whom he married on June 6, 1975 of Social Hill, son; Scott Cason and his wife Carrie of New De Roche, and granddaugh­ter Lillian Cason of Malvern.

Geraldine Jester Francis

Geraldine Jester Francis age 85, of Malvern, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Curtis, Arkansas on December 12, 1934 the daughter of Fines and Ermia Story Jester. She was retired from the Benton Services Center/Arkansas Health Center after working many years in dietary and nursing as a CNA. Geraldine was a member of Curtis Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of sixty-two years, Charles Franklin Francis, Son, Charles Ray Francis, and several sisters and brothers.

She is survived by her daughters, Pat Hutcheson and Pam Bailey (husband James), daughter-in-law, Rhonda Pulley Francis all of Malvern, sister, Freda Vanlanding­ham (husband Wallace) of Hot Springs, two brothers, Allmon and James Jester, five grandchild­ren, Neil Bailey (wife Kristee), Cole Bailey, Kyle Bailey (wife Angelia), Allison Fulcher (husband Beau) and Kayti Nichols (husband Ethan) and adopted grandchild Grace Clowers. Geraldine was always interested in and glad to see her eight great-grandchild­ren: Landen, Brooklynn, Cooper, Parker, Spencer, and Chandler Bailey, Nora Rae Fulcher and Emmett Ray Nichols and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 10:00AM Thursday, August 27, 2020 in the Regency Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Teddy Frye officiatin­g with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Ouachita Cemetery.

Donna Kaye (Cunningham) Crazybear

Donna Kaye (Cunningham) Crazybear was born in Huntington Beach, California on June 10, 1953.

Donna passed away in Madison , Minnesota on August 8, 2020.

She is survived by her Mother, Vera (Porter) Webb of Malvern, Ark., Stepfather Coleman L. Webb of Poyen, Ark., Brother Brent D. Cunningham of Nashville, Tenn., Sister Tiffany Jean Barbee (m) to Craig Barbee of Altus, Ark., Sister Patsy K. Cunningham of St. Louis, Mo., her “adopted” son, KC Shields of Madison, Minn., and several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends.

Donna lived with the Sioux in South Dakota; spent many years in Las Vegas in the Medical field, and her love for History helped her do research for the Mormon genealogic­al library. Very creative, she loved to do crafts and write poetry. Moving to Madison for a cooler climate, she establishe­d a home with KC and her cat, Prince. Donna was interested in many things, and a wonderful conversati­onalist. Donna will be very missed by her family.

Minnie Pearl Murdock

Minnie Pearl Murdock, 84, of Malvern, was born February 20, 1936, in Chidester, Arkansas, to the late Odessie Powell and Benton Bedford. She passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2020.

Minnie is preceded in death by her aforementi­oned parents; 2 husbands, 1 son: Osie Lee McKinney, and 1 daughter: Desiree Murdock.

3 brothers: L.G. Bedford, William Roy Bedford, and James Walter Sanders; 1 sister, Mary Ellen Bedford.

She leaves behind 6 children: Alvin Murdock (Stella), Cristianna McKinney all of Malvern, Evita Murdock of Ft. Worth, Texas, Dwayne Murdock, Gwyn Grayer (Herman) both of Malvern, Marchie Murdock (Cheryl) of Red Oak, Texas; 2 sisters: Carolyn Bedford of Ft. Worth, Texas and Tammy Wells Nwaro of Malvern; 1 brother, Ralph Wells (Cheryl) of Rowlett, Texas; 15 grandchild­ren; 30 great-grandchild­ren; 4 great-great-grandchild­ren; a special niece, Debra Rogers and a host of other relatives and friends.

Kay Efird Kidder

Kay Efird Kidder, age 70, of Malvern passed away Sunday August 23, 2020 at Baptist Health-HSC. She was born May 1, 1950 in Dallas, Texas the daughter of Herschel C. and Rebecca Geaslin Efird. Kay was a homemaker and caregiver for many years. She loved to collect odds and ends and was a member of Salt Life Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Reamey “Red” Sanford Kidder Jr. and son, Sanford “Bud” Kidder.

She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Hardage (Darrell) of Bismarck, Tina Kidder (Eddie) of Malvern and Jamie Schweitzer of Bismarck; brothers, James Efird of Hot Springs and Herschel “Tinker” Efird (Linda) of Missouri; sister, Delores Efird of Hot Springs; grandchild­ren, Nicole Bailey, Cody Burroughs, Sinthia Sexton, Seth Salinas, Justin and Matt Kidder, Hailey and Abby Schweitzer, Skylar McKinnon, Matt and Mason Hardage and Jason Lewis; great-grandchild­ren, Aiden Hardage, Noah Burroughs, Ava and Ella McCants, Rilynn Lee Kidder, Caiden and Carson Kidder, Connor Smith, Cooper Shields, Ryan Hardage, Lyla and Zander Hardage, Hunter McKinnon, Kson, Galaxy and Glacia Lewis and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hazel Lee Griggs Jones

Hazel Lee Griggs Jones age 79 of Malvern passed away August 25th 2020. She was born July 14th 1941 in Malvern to Carl Lawson and Katherine Dale Russell Griggs. Hazel graduated from Malvern High School, worked as the bookkeeper for Malvern Hardware until retiring on disability in the 80’s. She was a lifetime member of Keith United Methodist Church where she had an active role as choir director, past United Methodist Women President and was on the church board. She was the first woman elected as an alderman in Malvern and she was active in her son’s life including Cub Scout den mother, school activities and church activities. Other that her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. (Bob) Jones, and a brother Joe Griggs.

Survivors include her son: Dr. Robert (Robbie) Griggs Jones, brother: Gary (Patty) Griggs, sister-in-law: Cathy Griggs, and numerous nieces and nephews and special friends: Joe and Joy Faucett.

Private Family services will be held at Rockport Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Ladd officiatin­g. Honorary pallbearer­s will be Members of Keith United Methodist Church, and Staff of Encore Healthcare and Rehabilita­tion.

Myra Burris Short

Myra Burris Short, age 70 of Malvern passed away Tuesday August 25, 2020 at NPMC-Hot Springs. She was born in Long Beach, CA. on October 23, 1949 the daughter of the late Hubert Earl and LaVerne (Paul) Burris. Myra was the founder of the Country Gardens Florist in 1977, and after retirement worked as a seamstress. She was an active member of the Reyburn Creek Missionary Baptist Church, serving as Church Pianist and in the Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors are her husband of fifty-one years, Ronny Short to whom she married July 25, 1969, daughters, Amber Barnes (husband Mason) of Malvern and Dana Reynolds (husband Stacy) of Pearcy, brother, Ryan Burris (wife Kyla) of Glen Rose, sisters, Debbie Burks (husband William) of Malvern, Lisa Bohannan (husband Mike) of Washington, Iowa, grandchild­ren Dillon and Madison Hall, Jessica Bray (husband Taylor) and Jacey Tuggle, Noah and Abby Reynolds, great-grandchild, Baylor Grace Bray and numerous nieces and nephews, and her precious fur babies Eli and Isaac.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 29, at 10:00 AM in the Regency Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Todd and Tyler Bray officiatin­g. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial in Lone Hill Cemetery.

Carolyn Cecile Evans

Carolyn Cecile Evans was born on January 3, 1938, in Arkadelphi­a, Arkansas to Joseph Cecil and Blanche Ellen Carter Evans. Carol left this side of eternity August 27, 2020 in Thomaston, Georgia. Her father took his journey on the same date in 1977.

Carol lived most of her life In Malvern, graduating from Malvern High School class of 1955. In Carol`s later years she worked at the senior adult center in Malvern. Carol had moved to Georgia four years ago to be near her sons.

She was preceded by her parents, a son, Darryl lee Overturf and father of her three sons, Alvin Lee Overturf.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Mark Duane Overturf (Gail), and Alvin Scott Overturf of Georgia, two grandsons Zakary Overturf and Aaron Scott Overturf one granddaugh­ter Allison Storm Overturf. Brother Joseph E. (Bud) Evans (Shirley) of Benton Arkansas, Sister Barbara Annette Evans (Rick) of Springfiel­d Missouri, two nephews, Kevin Evans and Chad Lisenby and three nieces Connie Evans, Angela Evans Ferrell (Brad), Kim Lisenby Pugh and their children and grandchild­ren and cousins too numerous to list.

Family will have a private memorial graveside service

at a future date at Maplewood Cemetery in Harrison Arkansas, alongside of her tmother and father.

Michael Duane Pettit

Michael Duane Pettit age 45 of Plainview AR passed away August 28, 2020. He was born January 1, 1975 in Modesto CA to Stanley tDuane Pettit and Carol Fear. Michael had worked for Alcan Packing in Russellvil­le. He loved to be around his family and especially his grandkids. He was also an avid Seattle Seahawks fan. Other than his father he was preceded in death by his children: Kyle Duane Pettit, Devin Lee Pettit, Trevor Gage Pettit and Allison Michelle Pettit.

Survivors include his mother: Carol Fear of Plainview AR, daughters Cassidy Pettit and Madison Pettit of Malvern, siblings: Matthew Pettit and Daniel Pettit of Russellvil­le, Bonnie Lee and her husband Michael of Russellvil­le and Melissa Pettit of Kentucky and his grandchild­ren: Everleigh Pettit and Ensleigh Pettit.

Norma J. Robinson

Norma J. Robinson age 88, of Malvern passed away Monday August 31, 2020, at NPMC in Hot Springs. She was born August 9, 1932 in Bly, Oregon the daughter of Amos Leroy and Edna Mae Merritt Book. She was a data entry administra­tive assistant for B & C Shoes in Malvern and after her retirement she enjoyed traveling, quilting, sewing, and especially bird twatching. Norma attended Donaldson Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Shirley Jessup.

Survivors are son, Donny Robinson (wife Liz), of Malvern and daughter, Dianna Rodriguez (husband Neo) of Hot Springs, seven grandchild­ren and ten great-grandchild­ren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clifford Wayne Loy age 58 of Hot Springs, passed away Sunday August 30, 2020 at his home. He was born February 7, 1962 in Arkadelphi­a to Carroll Winfred and Hester Loraine Brown Loy. Clifford worked in constructi­on was an avid hunter and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carroll Loy, loving wife of 39 years, Tina Ranee Downie Loy.

Alyce Kelly Bush, age 91, of Malvern passed away Monday, September 7, 2020. She was born May 9, 1929, in Tulip, the daughter of the late Earl and Mertie Myers Kelly. Alyce was retired from Southweste­rn Bell, where she worked as an informatio­n operator. She was a member of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, whom she married on October 30, 1958, Lloyd Duane Bush; daughter, Kay Bush Moore; sisters, Pearline Mathews, Verneda Stewart and Coy Mae Parker and brother, James Ed Kelly.

Lyle R. Senn, 80, of Malvern died Sunday, September 6, 2020. Born March 31, 1940 in Santa Rosa, California to Floyd and Alice Senn. He married Linda Vaughn on November 30, 1958.

He worked in the logging business buying and selling timber and then became owner/ operator of Lyle Senn Trucking. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Malvern.

He was predecease­d by his wife; Linda, parents; Floyd Senn and Clyde and Alice Price, Jr., His sister; Irene Butcher, all of Rosa, California, His brother; Larry Senn of Benton, His mother-in-law and father-inlaw; Orbie and Oda Jester Vaughn.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law; Troy and Lisa Senn of Malvern, grandsons; Toby and Brittany Senn of Magnet Cove and Tyler and Allison Senn of Prairie Grove AR, Great grandsons; Easton Senn of Magnet Cove and Zane Senn of Prairie Grove, AR, Brother Virgil and Carol Senn of Santa Rosa, California, Sister-in-law Celestine Senn of Benton, Ar; Brother-in-law; Jim Brown of Angola, Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pete Hughes

Pete Hughes age 88 of Malvern passed away September 8, 2020. He was born June 1, 1932 in Caney AR to Millard and Lessie Burris Hughes. Pete was retired from Arkla Gas after 40 years of service. He was a member of North Malvern Assembly of God Church, past member of the Road Runners Club and served 9 years in the Arkansas National Guard. Pete loved to garden and camp. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings: Clinton Hughes, Doris Ross, Christine Cranford, Ricky Hughes and Willa Faye Baker.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years: Loretta Galloway Hughes, daughter: Kim Shipp and her husband Mark, son: Britt Hughes and his wife Sissy, grandsons: Matthew (Brandi) Hughes, Brad Landreth, Marcus Shipp and Robbie Shipp, great grandchild­ren: Christian Shipp, Chloe Hughes, Emma Hughes, Caleb Landreth, Daniel Landreth and Eli Landreth, and his brother Melton “Red” Hughes.

Ruby Lee Doss

Ruby Lee Doss, age 88 of Malvern, died Thursday, September 10, 2020 at her home. She was born on January 13, 1932 in Amity, Arkansas to the late Jim Garner and Luda Gertrude Skates Garner. Reared and educated in Amity, she graduated with the Amity High School class of 1950. She married the love of her life, Manuel C. Doss, on December 28, 1950, in Amity, and they moved to Malvern in 1952. In 1957, she and her husband opened Doss Garage, which is still in operation today. Ruby was a member of First Baptist Church, where she attended the Ruth Sunday School Class. She loved children and put that love to work by teaching preschool at First Baptist Church for many years. She loved her family and they enjoyed partaking of the delicious food she prepared for them. You never saw Ruby without her radiant smile. That, along with her kindness, will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Manuel Doss; by two sons, Ricky Doss (Theresa), and Dennis Doss (Sherri); her son-in-law, Bob Williams; all of Malvern; a sister, Shirley Potter of Sparks, Nevada; her grandchild­ren, Jennifer Burks (Andy), Amy Clements (Jeremy), Wendy Folds (J. R.), Sara Doss (Chad), John Doss (Monique), Staci Allen (Chris), Sheena Robinson (Phillip), and Skyler Doss; numerous great-grandchild­ren and great-great-grandchild­ren.

Ruby was also preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Doss Williams, a great-grandson, Bo Dillon Kidder, two brothers and one sister.

A graveside service will be held at eleven o’clock Saturday morning, September 12, 2020 at Resthaven Cemetery with Brother Billy Bartlett officiatin­g and under the direction of J. A. Funk Funeral Home.

Pallbearer­s will be members of Ruby’s family.

Karen Yvonne Wylie, 62 of Chambersvi­lle, died September 8, 2020 at St Vincent’s in Little Rock.

She was born to the late Marlon Ables and Alice Elizabeth Matthews on December 27, 1957. She is preceded in death by her parents; step-father, George Bo Matthews; and husband, Ronald Dale Wylie.

Bonnie Witham, age 72 of Malvern, Arkansas, passed away Friday, September 11, 2020. She was born March 11, 1948 in Malvern, Arkansas to Dink Glenn Gray & Augusta (Gelvin) Gray. Bonnie loved gardening and dearly loved and cherished her family and grandchild­ren and was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Church.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, Dink Gray and Augusta Gray and a daughter, Penny Holleman Yates, her brothers, James E Gray, Dean Franklin Gray, and Jack Gray; her sisters, Betty Cunningham Hill and Katie May Gray.

George Leon Casey

George Leon Casey was born to George and Elnora Casey on September 22, 1945.

Leon’s family moved from Shreveport, LA to Malvern, AR after his high school years. Throughout the years he was employed by American Window & Door, where he worked alongside his father, Anthony Timberland and Precision Industries. He spent his last years working at CADC through the AARP Program.

In the mid-1970s he married Irma Williams along with her two sons, Keith and Timothy and the rest of the Williams Family. One daughter Mandy Casey was born under that union. He also gained a bonus daughter, Cheri’ Williams.

Leon was a man of faith who cared deeply for his family and community. He loved to talk and very rarely met a stranger. He was a father, grandfathe­r, brother, uncle and he was also a friend. He’ll be dearly missed.

Sarah Josephine Pierce (Cash), age 89 of Malvern, Arkansas, passed away Monday, September 14, 2020. She was born October 3, 1930 in Malvern, Arkansas to Charles Edward Horne and Stella Fontiane (Nickoles) Horne. Sarah loved to quilt.

Sarah is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Stella Horne; her husband, Towsend James Pierce; her brothers, Charles Horne, Wesley Horne and John Horne.

Survivors are her sons, Terry L Pierce (Maria Trinidad), James Edward Pierce, and Donald Wayne Pierce; her daughter, Judy Karen Davidson (Jackie) and her seven grandchild­ren and sixteen great-grandchild­ren.

Services will be held Thursday, September 17, 2020, 2:00 P.M. at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel in Malvern, Arkansas.

Wayne Dale Thompson

Wayne Dale Thompson, 76, of Malvern went to be with the Lord on September 11, 2020. He was born June 26, 1944.

Wayne was a soldier of The National Guard. He loved his family and will be missed by many.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Alma Thompson. His son Jed Thompson, three brothers; Orval Joe Thompson, Kenneth Bear Thompson, and Billy Thompson along with one sister; Patsey Wuertz.

He is survived his sons; Jimmy Thompson, Bobby Thompson and of Malvern, daughter; Maggie Caskey (Rodney) of Weston, La and 4 wonderful grandchild­ren.

Dianna L. Fitzhugh Bennett

Dianna L. Fitzhugh Bennett, age 70 of Malvern passed away Tuesday September 15, 2020 in NPMC-Hot Springs. She was born in Malvern on December 14, 1949 the daughter of Edgar L. and Doris P. Brandon Fitzhugh. Dianna was a homemaker and had worked as an instructor for 15 years at the Boys and Girls Club of Malvern and Hot Spring County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Clayton Jesse “C.J.” Bennett, and brother David Fitzhugh.

Survivors are her husband of forty-two years, Clayton Bennett, daughters, Christy Jackson (husband Tony), and Susan Bennett all of Malvern, brother, Steve Fitzhugh (wife Laurel) of Prescott, Arizona, two sisters, Rebecca and Delores Fitzhugh both of Denver, Colorado and her grandchild­ren Austen and Abby Jackson.

Memorial services will be held at a later date and will be announced.

William Jewell Overton, age 55, of Malvern passed away Monday, September 14, 2020. He was born January 29, 1965, in Malvern, the son of the late William Norman and Mary Louise Penix Overton. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Overton.

Survivors, wife, whom he married on December 5, 1996, Reatha Crowder Overton; step-children, Ellen Goza and Emily Morozoy (Yuriy) and sisters, Norma Jean Freeman (Ronnie) of Malvern, Connie Chaffer (Mike) of Glouster, Virginia and Penny Inglis of Benton.
