CADC utility program opens
The Central Arkansas Development Council is currently accepting applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
The program “provides families with short-term fuel assistance. Persons receiving LIHEAP are connected to family development resources, which provides a link to long-term resources to help families become self- reliant,” according to the council.
To apply, individuals need:
•Proof of income for all household members, 18 years and older, from previous month.
•State or government-issued identification.
•Social Security numbers and birth dates for every household member.
•Copy of utility bills–gas, electric and/ or propane.
•Proof of Social Security, SSI, retirement, pensions, Workman’s Comp., disability, unemployment, foster care support, VA benefits and/ or utility allowance. All from the previous month for any member of the household who receives the benefits.
•Knowledge of resources such as checking, savings and other asset totals.
If a person does not have any income, in some cases a Zero Income Documentation Form will be need to be completed along with verifiable contribution and/or collateral statement to show how bill have been paid. Information about unemployment benefits for all household members who are 18 years of age or older is also required.
The council asks that individuals provide a working telephone number, so staff can reach out to them.
Further documents may also be required when submitting an application.
Completed applications can be returned to the local office or emailed to myliheap@cadc.com.
