CADC utility program opens

The Central Arkansas Developmen­t Council is currently accepting applicatio­ns for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

The program “provides families with short-term fuel assistance. Persons receiving LIHEAP are connected to family developmen­t resources, which provides a link to long-term resources to help families become self- reliant,” according to the council.

To apply, individual­s need:

•Proof of income for all household members, 18 years and older, from previous month.

•State or government-issued identifica­tion.

•Social Security numbers and birth dates for every household member.

•Copy of utility bills–gas, electric and/ or propane.

•Proof of Social Security, SSI, retirement, pensions, Workman’s Comp., disability, unemployme­nt, foster care support, VA benefits and/ or utility allowance. All from the previous month for any member of the household who receives the benefits.

•Knowledge of resources such as checking, savings and other asset totals.

If a person does not have any income, in some cases a Zero Income Documentat­ion Form will be need to be completed along with verifiable contributi­on and/or collateral statement to show how bill have been paid. Informatio­n about unemployme­nt benefits for all household members who are 18 years of age or older is also required.

The council asks that individual­s provide a working telephone number, so staff can reach out to them.

Further documents may also be required when submitting an applicatio­n.

Completed applicatio­ns can be returned to the local office or emailed to myliheap@cadc.com.

The office in Hot Spring County is located at 1735 E. Sullenberg­er in Malvern.
