Elizabeth “Liz” JoAnn Chastain

Elizabeth “Liz” JoAnn Chastain, age 73, of Lono passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at her home. She was born July 13, 1947, in Vlaardingen, Holland, the daughter of the late Hendricus “Hank” and Hendrika Vink Vangerven. Liz was a cook at Malvern School District for many years. She was a member of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church and taught a children’s Sunday school class. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and tending to her flowers.

Survivors, husband, whom she married December 17, 1967, Bennie Chastain; sons, Rob Chastain (Tabitha), Michael Chastain (Lori) and Ricky Chastain (Laura); brother, Pete Vangerven (Connie) of Tyler, Texas; sister, Nell Hannan (Dan) of Bell Flower, California; grandchildren, Daniel Chastain, Julianne Chastain, Mason Chastain, Jacob Chastain, Benjamin Chastain, Ainsley Chastain, Allen Manning, Aiden Peterson and Kiah Duggan and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, January 15 from 6:008:00pm at Regency Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be Saturday, January 16 at 10:00am at Damascus Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Rickey Poynor and Brother Brad Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Lono Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Damascus Missionary Baptist Church.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Timothy Webb and the nurses and staff at Genesis Cancer Center.
