Stellar team defense leads to 30-point victory for Jr. Lady Panthers against ACA, 45-15

MAGNET COVE — The intense and smothering aggressive play on the defensive end led to a phenomenal team victory for the Magnet Cove Jr. Lady Panthers last Thursday defeating Arkansas Christian Academy Jr. Lady Knights 45-15 in junior high girls basketball action at Magnet Cove High School Gymnasium.

The first quarter resulted to a 18-2 surge by the Jr. Lady Panthers over ACA. While Magnet Cove maintained an 16-point advantage after the first six minutes of action, the second quarter wasn’t any different. Magnet Cove outplayed ACA and outscored their visitors 11-3 in the period. At the break, the Jr. Lady Panthers headed into the locker room in full command and led the Jr. Lady Knights, 29-5.

In the second half, the Jr. Lady Panthers sparked on both ends and outscored the Jr. Lady Knights 16-10 for the entire 12 minutes action. By the end of three periods of action, Magnet Cove led ACA 41-9—which the Jr. Lady Knights remained held under double-digits for scoring. At the start of the fourth quarter, the sportsmans­hip rule went into effect and the Jr. Lady Panthers coasted into cruise control for the final six minutes of action to be victorious for the impressive 30-point victory.

For the game, Jr. Lady Panthers’ Haddie Hawthorn led the dominating Magnet Cove hoopsters by pouring a productive 16 points through the basket for double-figures and swished two trifectas from beyond the arc during the first quarter. Bella Harville finished the night by nailing a trifecta from downtown to score nine points. Kynsli Brashears and Kylie Covey each provided a spark to score six points apiece, while Hadley Herrington and Salina Potts both scored four points apiece. Post and inside player Neaira Walls with Emily Hardwick each contribute­d two points apiece to add to the Jr. Lady Panthers big night on the hardwood in Panther Country.
