Ocie Lee Williams

Ocie Lee Williams, 83, of Traskwood passed away on January 15, 2021 at his home. Ocie was known for his guitar playing. He enjoyed picking a good tune to sing along to.

Ocie is preceded in death by his parents and wife.

He is survived by his son, Jerry Williams ( Susan), and his grandchild­ren, Amber McCrackin ( Brian) and Austin Williams ( Bryanna). Also, his great grandchild­ren; Bennett, Lucy, and Brynlee.

Graveside Services will be held at Big Creek Cemetery on Friday January 22, 2021 at 2: 00pm.

Services for Mr. Williams have been entrusted to Atkinson Funeral Home.

All condolence­s and tributes can be made at www. atkinsonfu­neral. net known as Bill or B.V. by his family and friends, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, surrounded by his family at home. He was born May 9, 1937, in the Big Creek community near Malvern to A.C. and Myrtle Cunningham Daniel. He was a 1955 graduate of Magnet Cove High School, and later attended Southern State University. On September 7, 1958, he was married to Loretta Sanders in Hot Springs.

He was employed with I.P. as a Foreman in the finishing and shipping department, having retired in 1995 after 37 years of service. He loved sports, hunting, and fishing, and was well-known over Southern Arkansas for building fishing rods and repairing reels. He enjoyed gardening as well as going to flea markets and collecting antiques.

He was a member of the former Fairfield Bass Club, and Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. In recent years, he began attending the Thursday morning Bible Study at Shannon Road Baptist Church.

He will be missed greatly as a kind-hearted gentleman who was most honest and sincere, and a very giving man behind the scenes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Patsy Ann Penny; two brothers-inlaw, Wayne Penny and Robert Parker; and a nephew, Aaron Mabry.

He is left to cherish his memory his wife of 62 years, Loretta Sanders Daniel; two sons, Mark Daniel of Pine Bluff and Shannon Daniel (Jennifer) of the Sulphur

Springs community; one grandson, Derek Daniel (Nikki) of White Hall; two great-grandchild­ren, Hudson Jude Daniel and Oliver Van Daniel of White Hall; two sisters, Sylvia Parker of Magnet Cove, and Terrie Mabry (Gary) of Malvern; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 22, 2021, at the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors in Pine Bluff with the Rev. Josh Blevins officiatin­g. Burial will follow in Big Creek Cemetery near Malvern.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 P.M. Thursday at Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home.

The family wishes to offer their deepest gratitude to the staff of Kindred Hospice for their care and compassion to Mr. Daniel and the family.

Donnie Overton

Donnie Overton, age 75, of Magnet Cove passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Saline Memorial Hospital. He was born August 15, 1945, in Malvern, the son of the late Lecil DeWitt “Dude” and Billie Sue Jordan Overton. Donnie served in the United States Navy and did two tours in Vietnam. He was a deacon at Meadowview Missionary Baptist Church and taught the young adults Sunday school class. Donnie enjoyed playing golf and going to his grandkids ballgames. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Betty Doggett.

Survivors, wife of 55 years, Carolyn Crumby Overton; son, Dennis Overton (wife, Laura) of Hot Springs; daughter, Caren McGregor of Hot Springs; brother, Tommy Overton (wife, Paulette) of Malvern; sister, Brenda Maracle of Batesville; grandchild­ren, Chandler Overton, Grayson Overton, Whit Overton, Ben McGregor and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held

Friday, January 22 from 5:00-7:00pm at Regency Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 23 at 2:00pm at Magnet Cove Cemetery with Brother Shaun Holland officiatin­g. Pallbearer­s will be Chandler Overton, Grayson Overton, Whit Overton, Ben McGregor, Rick Richmond and Terry Sawyer. Honorary pallbearer­s will be the deacons at Meadowview Missionary Baptist Church.

Social distancing and mask are required.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may the made to Meadowview Missionary Baptist Church.

Deacon Cleveland Matlock

Deacon Cleveland Matlock, beloved husband, father, grandfathe­r, and

great-grandfathe­r went home to be with his Lord Sunday, January 17, 2021, peacefully at CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Cleveland Matlock was born June 6, 1931, to the late Jewel Matlock and Millie Williams in Sparkman, Arkansas.

In 1953 while working for Coca-Cola he met the love of his life, Ida Mae Johnson (Betty), which they would spend the next 66 years together. They had six (6) beautiful and devoted children, four (4) girls, Mary, Pearline, Annie, and Gwen; two (2) boys, William and Dennis. In 1956 they moved to Mountain Pine where Cleveland worked on the railroad for Dierks before moving into the sawmill at Weyerhaeus­er and was a dedicated employee for 38 years.

Cleveland loved watching baseball, basketball, football, and old western movies. He also enjoyed being in his gardens planting and growing greens, cabbages, peas, grapevines, and his favorite tomatoes. Cleveland was a family man. He always enjoyed being surrounded by his children and grandchild­ren.

He served as a deacon at Gordon Memorial COGIC until his health began to decline and he moved his membership to Deliveranc­e Temple COGIC where his son-in-law is the pastor and where he gave his life to Christ.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Pearline Madyum, brothers Cecil and WT Matlock, and sisters Annie Pearl Tate and Mary Conner Brooks.

He is survived by his wife, Ida Mae Matlock, sons William H Matlock (Elizabeth), Wurzburg, Germany, Dennis R. Matlock, Little Rock, AR., daughters Mary L. McClellan, Houston, Texas, Annie Babb (Larry), Mtn. Pine, AR, Gwendolyn Matlock, Little Rock, AR, 1 brother, Leavy Matlock, Malvern AR; 13 grandchild­ren, Tonoka Settles (Victor), Kasib Madyun, Aadil Madyun, Robin Babb (Meagan), Jason Babb, Kimberlin Babb (Kenny Blevins), Amelia Matlock, Marcus Matlock (Tammalah), Jawann McClellen (Keanou), Michelle Matlock, Dominque Thomas (John) Ashlyn Matlock, Markeith Matlock and 16 great-grandchild­ren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation: 12p6pm Thursday, January 21st at funeral home.
