March events available at the Malvern/HSC Library

The Malvern/Hot Spring County Library has scheduled events and activities for the public to enjoy during the entire month of March. The library is presenting a March reading challenge March 1 through 31. There are three age groups—age 10 and under, age 11 to 18 and age 19 and up. The staff request that participan­ts log minutes and for every hour they read they will receive an entry for a chance to win a themed prize basket.

The library also provides curbside pick-up service

available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 12 Noon.

Story hour is every Monday and the public may join Mrs. Marcie for fun facts and stories about Reptiles. Register to receive craft supplies and join Ms. Marcie on Facebook LIVE.

PreK is 10:30 a.m., Kindergart­en through 3rd Grade is 11:30 a.m.

Craft supplies are included with registrati­on, and will receive an email when they are ready to pick up.

Read Across America Spirit Week

Each day we will feature a book written by Dr. Suess and read by one of our staff members. There will also be an activity that correlates with the book. Post a picture of yourself participat­ing in the activity on our Facebook prompt for the day and be entered in a drawing for a book prize drawing.

Monday – Fox in Socks – Crazy Sock Day

Tuesday – Cat in the Hat – Hat Day

Wednesday – Wacky Wednesday – Wacky Hair Day

Thursday – Green Eggs and Ham – Wear Green Day

Friday – Oh The Place You Will Go – Profession Day

Saturday – Happy Birthday to You – 100 Year Old Day

Cooking with the Library Chef: Green Eggs 12 Noon

The Library Chef will be making a sweet version of this classic food. Receive everything you need to make your own Green Eggs. You will receive an email when your supplies are ready to pick up.

Wednesday March 10

Kid’s Craft: Leprechaun

Hat

Make your own leprechaun hat using a clay pot and paint. Registrati­on opened on February 24. You will receive an email when your supplies are ready to pick up.

Thursday March 11

STEM – Leprechaun Trap Noon

Receive the basic supplies to make a leprechaun trap. Add your imaginatio­n and skills for a unique design. Registrati­on will open on February 25. You will receive an email when your supplies are ready to pick up.

Friday March 12

Instapot Cooking: Irish Stew noon on Facebook LIVE

Join us on Facebook Live, to learn how to use your Instapot to make a delicious pot of Irish stew.

Adult Craft Series: Rabbit Wine Glass 5:30 p.m.

All supplies will be provided. Registrati­on will open on March 2 at 8 am. You will receive an email when your supplies are ready to pick up, and an invitation to join us on Zoom as we complete the craft together.

Wednesday March 17

Escape Room in a Box: St. Patrick’s Day

Register for supplies which will be picked up using our curbside pick up service. The activity will be completed at home.

Elementary Ages – O’Conner the Leprechaun wants all of the gold for himself. If he succeeds, all of the fairies will disappear. Can you save the gold before time runs out?

Tweens and Teens – Those deceptive little leprechaun­s have played a prank and you are trapped in your classroom. Can you escape?

Thursday March 18

Cooking with the Library Chef: Luck Charms Treat Noon

The Library Chef will be making a unique St. Patrick’s Day treat. Receive everything you need to make your own Lucky Charms Treat. You will receive an email when your supplies are ready to pick up.

Build A Pal Animal Workshop and Story

The staff will be reading Horton Hears a Who. Each child will receive an elephant to stuff. Their new friend will come with a special carrying bag, and wishing star, and a birth certificat­e. Registrati­on is required and opens on March 9. All materials are provided free of charge.

Wednesday March 24

Science with Mr. Wizard: Elephant Toothpaste Noon

What could be more fun than a foamy fountain experiment? Doing a foamy fountain experiment with Mr. Wizard! Registrati­on is required and opens on March 10. All materials are provided free of charge.

Thursday March 25

STEM – Nest Noon The staff will be reading Horton Hatches an Egg. Supplies will be provided to build a nest. Registrati­on opens March 11.

Friday March 26

Cricut Creations: Layered Vinyl 12 pm on Facebook LIVE

Learn how to layer vinyl on canvas to make a cute wall hanging.

Monday March 29

Story Hour – Bunnies and Butterflie­s

Wireless Printing

The library also offers wireless printing, from a mobile device. Print from anywhere.
