Black named president at Malvern National Bank

The Board of Directors of Malvern National Bank recently announced that Brent Black has been named the bank’s president effective January 1, 2021.

Black has been with MNB since 2016, and most recently held the positions of chief financial officer and chief operations officer.

A proud Ouachita Baptist University graduate, Black has spent the last 20 years in banking, working for several highly reputable financial institutio­ns in Arkansas.

He was awarded “Bank CFO of the Year” in 2019 by Arkansas Business and has been a member of Arkansas Business’ “40 under 40” and “Leadership Arkansas.”

His family includes his wife Jennifer, and children Libbie, 14; Will, 13; and Savannah, 9.

Black succeeds Mark Roberts, who served as the bank’s President for the past 10 years, and retired December 31, 2020.

Roberts joined MNB in 1997 as in- house legal counsel, later serving as senior vice president of operations and then executive vice president, before being named president in 2011.

In his retirement, Roberts will continue to serve the bank as a business developmen­t consultant, acting as a bank liaison with several organizati­ons.

The Board of Directors and Executive Management of Malvern National Bank acknowledg­e the tremendous leadership and dedication from Roberts over the last 24 years, and appreciate his service to the bank.

As the only locally based community bank in Hot Spring County, Malvern National Bank has an 87year history of serving families and businesses through its locations in Malvern, Hot Springs, Sheridan, East End, Benton, Bryant, Little Rock and Conway.

Founded in 1934, the bank has more than $ 600 million in assets and more than 130 employees.
