-

Thomas Cleveland Moore, Jr., age 91, of Little Rock, died Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at his home. He was born on June 21, 1929 in Little Rock to the late Thomas Cleveland Moore, Sr. and Mabelle Marguerite Ellis Moore. Reared and receiving his early education in the Little Rock Public Schools, Tom graduated from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville with a BS degree in chemistry with Cum Laude honors. His 43-year career as a chemist began at E. I. DuPont in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He also worked at their facility in South Carolina as chemist and shift supervisor. Tom joined the United States Army in 1955 and worked as a chemist at Fort Chaffee and Fort Knox in their environmental health labs. After his discharge from the military, he joined Stebbins and Roberts Company in Little Rock in 1959, retiring as chief chemist and vice president/technical director in 1994. On July 9, 1960, he married the love of his life, the former Catherine Nelle “Kaki” Wallis, at First Methodist Church in Malvern. She preceded him in death on January 25, 2021. He served for 36 years as a member and ushered for 29 years at Fellowship Bible Church in West Little Rock. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, water skiing, and hiking in his first 74 years, but in 2003 his favorite time in life began when his precious granddaughter, Caroline was born. He was a loving and devoted husband to Kaki, an adoring father to Jim, and a doting grandfather to Caroline. He had a strong work ethic till the end and left a legacy that will last forever. He was a sweet, tender man with a servant’s heart.

The most important decision he made in his 91 years was in December of 1967 on a Lay Witness Mission at Trinity Methodist Church, where he dedicated his life to Christ and served on 12 missions, sharing the gospel of Christ in several states. This led to a lifetime of serving the Lord.

Tom is survived by his son, Jim Moore and his wife, Pam, and by his granddaughter, Caroline Moore, all of Little Rock; by his brother-in-law, Charles Wallis and his wife, Irene, of Folsom, California; nieces and nephew, Laura Groome of Rainbow, Texas, Sue Wallis of Libertyville, Illinois, Dan Wallis; great-nieces and -nephews, Stephanie and Scott Beauvais, Daniel, Courtney, and Kirby Groome, and great-greatniece, Kyla Groome.
