More than 100 bags were collected Saturday during the quarterly cleanup event hosted by The Malvern Downtown Development Corporation with the Hot Spring County Conversations— Malvern Beautification Action Team and the City of Rockport.

Several volunteers got an early start to their day to participate in the event from 8 a. m. until 10 a. m.

The clean up project involved several areas in downtown Malvern and Rockport— amongst other target places and sites in the county.

Volunteers met at 302 S. Main Street in Malvern and 1472 Military Rd. in Rockport where supplies such as vests, gloves and trash bags were provided and distributed. Also free T- shirts were available to each volunteer.

Malvern Downtown Development Board President Dara Casey was more than thankful to everyone who participated during the event. Casey said, "A big thank you to all the guys at Covenant Recovery for coming out and covering a big area, Red River Dodge

for the donation of trash bags, Keep Arkansas Beautiful for all the supplies and shirts, and all the volunteers who came out.”

Casey added Rockport had around 32 bags of trash collected from their area during the clean up.

Trash was collected and picked up around 10 a. m. from the same two locations and transported to solid waste.

Casey always emphasizes the event was a city and countywide effort and she is appreciative to all of the volunteers and especially local business representatives who contributed their time which made the event a huge success.

The event is sponsored by Keep Arkansas Beautiful.
