Jury trial date set for 2017 murder case
The jury trial for a man accused of a killing a Malvern woman in 2017 is scheduled to take place June 7. The date was set during a court appearance on March 10.
In connection with the crime, Christopher See is facing charges of aggravated robbery and first degree murder.
According to court documents, See allegedly, forced his way into the home of a 90-year-old victim on E. Sullenberger Ave and then allegedly caused her death by blunt force trauma to the head, strangulation and fracture of the cervical spine.
After months of investigating, officers with the Malvern Police Department interviewed See about the crime. He claimed he and the victim were involved in a fight.
“Christopher admitted to smacking the victim with his hand,” according to the Malvern Police Department report. “Placing himself at the victim’s residence and admitting that he was inside of the victim’s residence, in an altercation with the victim. He then admitted that he physically struck and restrained the victim because he was afraid she would take him down or trip him. The victim was a 90-year-old woman and weighed 190 lbs and whom hours later was found dead barely 6 feet inside her front door.”
See’s trial was scheduled to take place in 2020, but was delayed because of COVID-19.
According to court documents, Circuit Judge Stephen Shirron has recused himself from presiding over the case.
“Due to my personal involvement in this case during the time I served as chief deputy prosecuting attorney, to avoid even the appearance of impropriety and comply with the Judicial Canons, I find it necessary to recuse myself,” Shirron wrote in an order of recusal.
