The spark continues to showcase productively on the diamond for the Magnet Cove Lady Panthers after securing consecutive wins shutting out the Mount Ida Lady Lions 2-0 at home, then in a road trip dismantling the Jessieville Lady Lions 19-1 for two impressive softball performances.

Magnet Cove softball head coach Hunter Vincent was impressed by both performances of his Lady Panthers’ team execution for two convincingly and dominant victories.

Lady Panthers 2, Mount Ida 0

Vincent mentioned Bella Harville earned the win from powerful pitching. Harville pitched seven innings, allowed three hits, two walks, and struck out 14 batters from work in the pitcher’s circle. In the third inning, Alexa Gangoso had a single, then stole second base to score on a RBI single from Maddie Lawrence for productive play. He noted, in the sixth inning Lawrence singled to right field and scored on a third base error—resulting in an in the park home run.

Following the game, Vincent stated, “Bella just overpowered them with her pitching. Striking out 14 out of 21 outs is impressive against anybody.” He added, “I thought she did a really good job trusting her defense.”

Vincent also stated Haylie Helton, Hadley Herrington, and Alexa Gangoso all made good plays in the field. “They did a really good job making routine plays look like routine plays. Our offense is not where we need it to be right now, but I believe it’s coming,” Vincent said.

“We are putting the bat on the ball more and more often and a lot of times are hitting it really hard. Mt Ida just made some really good plays with their gloves a few times tonight,” Vincent noted.

Lady Panthers 19, Jessieville 1

With a productive defensive win against Mount Ida, the Lady Panthers carried their momentum on the road to run rule for a 18-run victory against Jessieville.

Vincent emphasized the Lady Panthers put together an outstanding offensive attack and execution to finish with a dominating victory.

“Finally we had a good offensive game to go along with our pitching and defense. We started taking a few more pitches at the plate and waiting to hit the pitch we really liked. The patience at the plate led to more walks, more base hits, and more base runners. We didn’t commit an error for the second game in a row and again our pitching was the dominant factor in the game,” Vincent said.

To display the defensive spark in victory was Helton providing the star pitching power in the pitcher’s circle to earn the victory in four innings of work. Vincent noted for the offensive highlight of the match-up came from Kynsli Brashears with a three-run in the park home run.

The victories improved the Lady Panthers overall record to 9-3 and remain 1-0 in conference.
