Recipients of the downtown utility assistance grants announced
The Malvern Downtown Development Corporation, a member of the Main Street Arkansas Downtown Network recently announced the recipients of the Utility Assistance Grants—The Famous Antiques-Lowell and Pat Mobley, The Big Catch-Scott and Laura Anderson, Re-Tag It-Christy Snow, Bling Divas Boutique and Bling Divas Plus-Carolyn Freeman, and Lake Hamilton Realty, Branch Office- Bill and Sharon Tremor.
These funds were made available to the Malvern Downtown Development Corporation by Main Street Arkansas, a program of the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program.
Five $400 utility assistance grants were offered to be used for electricity, gas, and/or water bills. In order to be eligible, businesses had to submit a written application.
Grants recipients are selected based on financial need. Applicants had to provide a copy of their November or December 2020 utility bills along with proof of payment. This will be a reimbursable grant.
Malvern Downtown Development Corporation encourages everyone in the community to visit the downtown area and help support a collection of independent, small businesses. "Supporting local businesses contributes to a healthy and vibrant downtown and gives a boost to our local economy," according to the corporation.
As a member of Main Street America's downtown network program, the Malvern Downtown Development Corporation serves its purpose to organize and promote relationships to preserve and develop the beauty and economic stability of downtown Malvern.
