Lions place third in Jessieville meet

With a first place finish, two second place finishes, and a sleuth of third place finishes, the Bismarck Lions track team was able to place third in the Jessieville Lions Relays last Thursday.

The Lions finished first in the 4X800 Meter Relay with participants Christian Leon, Wayne Porterfield, Ethan Davis, and Rey Vasquez. The Lions finished the relay with a time of 9:47.

Another Lions’ relay team finished third in the 4X200 Meter Relay. The relay team consisted of Colton Slocum, Vasquez, Brooks Depriest and Davis. The team finished with a time of 1:52.88.

Individually, the Lions had two second place finishes. Leon finished second in the 110 Meter Hurdles and the 300 Meter Hurdles. The Lions also had three individuals place third in three events. Davis was third in the 400 Meter Dash, Porterfield was third in the 800 Meter Run, and Eli VanWie was third in the 3200 Meter Run.

In total the Lions were able to earn 86 points to earn third place in the meet.

Bismarck Lions at Jessieville Lion Relays Full Results: 110 Meter Hurdles- Leon finished second with a time of 18.61 and Colin Jones finished fifth with a time of 21.67.

300 Meter Hurdles- Leon finished second with a time of 45.55 and Jones finished fifth with a time of 54.77.

100 Meter Dash- Slocum finished with a time of 12.91 and Jones finished with a time of 13.47.

200 Meter Dash- Slocum finished with a time of 26.95 and Joe Parker finished with a time of 30.08.

400 Meter Dash- Davis finished third with a time of 58.73 and Vasquez finished 8th with a time of 66.91.

800 Meter Run- Porterfield finished third with a time of 2:29, VanWie finished fifth with a time of 2:38, and Vasquez finished with a time of 2:49.

1600 Meter Run- Porterfield finished with a time of 5:29, VanWie finished with a time of 5:54, and Collin Parrie finished with a time of 6:08.

3200 Meter Run- VanWie finished third with a time of 12:49, Depriest finished fifth with a time of 13:20, and Parrie finished sixth with a time of 13:49.

4X200 Meter Relay- The Lions finished third with a time of 1:52.88 with Slocum, Vasquez, Depriest, and Davis.

4X400 Meter Relay- The

Lions finished fourth with a time of 4:22 with Davis, Leon, Slocum, and Porterfield.

4X800 Meter Relay- The Lions finished first with a time of 9:47 with Leon, Porterfield, Davis, and Vasquez.

Shot Put- Parker finished with a distance of 30’8”.

Discus- Parrie finished with a distance of 66’1”.
