Early voting underway in school board election
Early voting has begun for the 2021 school board elections for Bismarck, Glen Rose, and Malvern school districts and the millage for Ouachita School District at the Hot Spring County Election Office building located at 230 W. Second Street in Malvern.
During early voting, registered voters may vote from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the HSC election office. Dates for early voting are May 11 through 14 and May 17. Election Day is May 18. According to HSC election staff, since school board elections in all four school districts located in Hot Spring
County are uncontested with no change in tax rate— the HSC Election Commissioners have chosen to open no polling locations on election day and exercise absentee and early voting only.
Through the first two days of early voting, May 11- 12, there have been 11 voters to cast ballots in the school board elections. Early voting will continue today and Monday May 17 at the HSC election office.
Liz Pfeiffer, HSC Deputy of Elections mentioned the voting area in the election office is set up for social distancing due to the COVID- 19 pandemic. Pfeiffer added voters are not required to wear a mask or covering, but if desired, there are masks available at the office to provide for voters.
