Malvern Senior Center back with activities

- Darlene Bryant

The center opened up full time on May 3 after a year of shut down because of the COVID pandemic. Our attendance is growing each day as the word spreads that we have reopened our doors.

The new hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. with the exception of commodity hand out days.

We have started back with our activities as well with each week including Bingo, Exercise class, Bean Bag Baseball games and live music.

Our center is specifically for those that are 60 years old or older and live in Hot Springs County. Everyone is welcome to join us each day for a hot meal and activities.

We would like to give a special shout out to our neighbors at Encore Rehabilitation for collecting pet food for our homebound seniors during this pandemic! These heroes have been fighting to keep our family members safe during this ordeal and still found the time to give back to our seniors at home. Our Home Delivered Meals Volunteers and staff delivered the much needed food to the ones in need with pets.

Another special thanks to our volunteers that have ensured the homebound seniors get their meals and receive the commodity food they need during this pandemic. We couldn’t provide all the services needed in the community without the help of these dedicated volunteers each month.

Spread the word that the center is back up and running and that we look forward to seeing all our old friends and welcome any seniors that would like to join the center. Memberships are free to anyone 60 or older and live in Hot Spring County.

Come on in for a personal tour of our facility and join in on the fun. Remember: this is the place to be when you are finally old enough to be a kid again!

Masks are still required and social distancing is encouraged.
