Bald Knob too much for Lady Beavers in first round of state tournament

The bats were rattling for the Glen Rose Lady Beavers Thursday as they took on the Bald Knob Lady Bulldogs in the first round of the 3A State Tournament, hosted at Ashdown High School. But the Lady Beavers were unable to drive in any runs and fell 6-0 to the Lady Bulldogs to have their season come to an end.

The Lady Bulldogs got started early scoring four of their six runs in the first inning. After two scoreless innings, the Lady Bulldogs then scored two more runs in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead. The next three innings fell scoreless as the Lady Bulldogs went on to claim victory over the Lady Beavers.

For the game, the Lady Beavers totaled seven hits while the Lady Bulldogs totaled six runs on 13 hits. Glen Rose senior Emma McJunkins paced the Lady Beavers at the plate with two hits.

The Lady Beavers end the season with an overall record of 20-9 and went 5-2 in 3A-7 conference play. The Lady Beavers started the season with a 3-3 record then went on an 11 game win streak before losing their first conference game to Ashdown. The Lady Beavers then finished the regular season at 17-6. In the postseason, the Lady Beavers defeated their Hot Spring County rivals, Bismarck, in the district to qualify for the regional tournament. The Lady Beavers then defeated Dumas in the regional to qualify for the state tournament. The Lady Beavers finished third in the regional tournament after losing to Ashdown but bouncing back with a win over McGehee. In the state tournament, the Lady Beavers fell to the second seeded Lady Bulldogs to have their season come to an end.
