December Reading Challenge
December 1st to 23rd 12 Days of Christmas
Log on to Readsquared to complete your challenge. This month we are focusing on books with a Christmas theme. Each person that completes the challenge will receive a country Christmas tree ornament.
Monday, December 6th
2 Year Old and Preschool Story Hour 10:30am
Join us for this educational program which incorporates music, stories, and crafts to inspire the love of reading. Call us or visit our website to register. Registration is required weekly.
Tuesday, December 7th
Family Photos 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Call the library to choose your 15-minute appointment. We will have a Christmas background ready for your portraits. You will have 15 minutes for your choice of poses. Prints will be ready on December 14th.
Santa at the Library 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Santa will be arriving at the library with a special bag of books for all the good little boys and girls. Feel free to bring your camera for pictures. We will also have a luminary and special story in the Story Trail area.
Wednesday, December 8th
Gingerbread House Competition
Supplies will be provided for a basic gingerbread house. Feel free to add to the provided supplies. Please bring your house to the library by December 17th. The winner will be announced December 23rd. Supplies will be ready by Wednesday, December 8th. Supplies not claimed by 5 pm on December 13th will be released to the next person in line.

Story Trail Luminary Visit the Story Trail for a luminary and special story before or after the Christmas Parade.
Friday, December 10th
Kid’s Craft – Footprint Painting
Make an adorable Night Before Christmas painting featuring your child’s footprint. Registration is required and will open on November 29th. Supplies will be picked up and the activity completed at home.
Saturday, December 11th
Dutch Oven Cooking – 11 am
Just Horsen’ Around will present a special demonstration of outdoor Dutch oven cooking. She will be teaching us how to make a delicious casserole.
Monday December 13th
2 Year Old and Preschool Story Hour 10:30am
Join Mrs. Marcie for our final story hour of the year.

Tuesday December 14th
Family Movie Night 5:30 pm
Join us for another outdoor family movie night. We will be watching Elf. Bring your snacks and lawn chairs to the Story Trail.
Wednesday, December 15th
Letter to Santa Deadline Letters must be placed in our mailbox to receive your reply.
Thursday, December 17th
Cooking with the Library Chef – Christmas Trees 12 Noon
We will be using ice cream cones, icing, and candy to make an edible Christmas tree. Register to receive the ingredients that you need to make this treat at home. Join us on Facebook for an instructional video
Tuesday, December 21st
Adult Craft Class – Tree Decoration 5:30 ZOOM Meeting
We will be making beautiful decorations for your
tree. Registration is required. Supplies bags will be picked up and the activity completed at home. You will receive an email when your supplies are ready.

Santa Claus has once again asked the lovely library staff at Malvern- Hot Spring County Library to watch over his mailbox.
Children can receive a personalized letter from Santa if they write to him before Wednesday, December 15th.
Letters must include child’s name and address.

Food for Fines gives patrons an opportunity to help others in HO Spring County and to reduce fines for overdue library materials. Patrons may bring in donations of non- perishable food items to offset overdue fines on their library account. Each item will offset $ 1 in fines up to $ 30. Fines accrued for billed items or replacement fess are not eligible under the program. December 2021
