Lions cruise to huge win over Mt. Ida, 52-7

Lady Lion ‘Big 3’ Collie, Lingo, Pleasants lead Bismarck to dominant victory

BISMARCK — In Lion Country Tuesday, it was a roaring victorious night for the Bismarck Lions and Lady Lions on the hardwood against their visiting opponents Mount Ida in senior high basketball competitio­n at the famous Holt Gymnasium.

In senior high girls action, the Lady Lions shined for a 53-24 win against Mount Ida. The Lady Lion ‘Big 3’ Hannah Collie, Victoria Lingo and Kady “KP” Pleasants led the way for double-figure scoring performanc­es in Bismarck’s 29-point win.

Collie led all scorers with a big 16 points and snatched seven rebounds— Lingo dropped a productive 14 points and just one rebound shy from a double-double with nine rebounds. KP put together a strong combinatio­n of scoring 10 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing out five assists. The Lady Lions held a 21-16 lead at halftime, then poured 32 points through the net in the second half—holding Mount Ida under double-digit scoring in all four quarters of action. With the victory, the Lady Lions improved to 4-2 overall. In the featured nightcap matchup for senior high boys action, the Lions outplayed Mount Ida on both ends of the court—offensivel­y and defensivel­y, resulting in an impressive 45-point home victory. For the game, Lion hoopster Ian Smith paced Bismarck with 11 points for double-figures— including three rebounds as the top performer of the night. Beau Wesson followed with nine points, four rebounds and three steals—blake Smith added seven points with two assists—carson House dropped six points with two steals— Kalem Rorie had five points—nick Tucker had four key rebounds and two steals. Also, Brooks Depriest chipped in three points— Collin Parrie, Riley Tuttle (two rebounds), Gabe Digiacomo (five rebounds)—and Wayne Porterfiel­d each contribute­d two points apiece.

The Lions and Lady Lions will continue tournament competitio­n in Carlisle this weekend, then return to regular schedule basketball action December 13 hosting Cutter Morning Star to conclude their season series meeting at Holt Gymnasium.
