Glen Rose Beavers, Lady Beavers finish fourth overall OHS Warriors, Lady Warriors split wins in consolation games
MAGNET COVE — For the final day of the 2021 Battle at the Cove basketball tournament Saturday, it highlighted a weekend showcase of exciting and intense hoop action on the hardwood at Magnet Cove Gymnasium.

Girls Finals
Magnet Cove Lady Panthers, 36 Centerpoint Lady Knights, 58 The host tournament team Magnet Cove Lady Panthers finished runner-up in the girls championship game against the Centerpoint Lady Knights, 58-36—For the game, Lady Panthers’ true-freshman point guard Ella Williamson led scoring with a productive 10 points
and drained one triple. Marleigh Mccutcheon followed with nine points and drilled three triples, Karsen Davis added seven points with a triple, Brianna Ramthun finished with four points, Haley Mccauley nailed a triple for three points— the trio of true-freshman Neaira Walls, Haylie Helton and Kynsli Brashears each chipped in two points apiece. For Centerpoint—monika Flores (one triple) and Marlee Bright led the Lady Knights each with 15 points apiece for double-figures. Anna White and Bailey Brown each drilled three triples for nine points apiece.
Boys Finals Fountain Lake Cobras, 48 Cutter Morning Star Eagles, 46
For a down to the wire thriller, the Fountain Lake Cobras prevailed over the CMS Eagles, 48-46. The game was knotted at 46-46 with 10.5 seconds, Cobra’s Michael Moore (eight points) sank a GW bucket buzzer-beater to lift Fountain Lake in a two-point victory against Cms—crowning the Cobras the tourney champions.
For the game, three Cobras posted in double-figures— Colby Lambert led scoring with 16 points with three triples, Landin Kizer and Evan East both added 10 points apiece—for CMS, Hayden Mcdougal led all scorers with a huge 20 points and drilled four triples.
CONSOLATION ROUNDS Boys Third Place Game Magnet Cove Panthers 34 Glen Rose Beavers 32
During the consolation rounds, the host tourney team Magnet Cove Panthers edged off in-county rivals’ Glen Rose close nail-biter game, 34-32.
For the game, Panthers’ Owen “Big O” Tillery paced his team to victory with 10 points for the lone player in double-figures.
Tillery also threw down a one-handed slam dunk while being fouled and draining a triple.
Big man Kadin Baker followed with eight points, Evin Ashcraft dropped six points, Kizer Kidder added four points and Layne Evans chipped in one point from the charity stripe.
For the Beavers—big man Brayden Youngman led all scorers with 12 points for double-figures.
Cohen Carter drained two triples for nine points, Ethan Stafford buried two triples with six points, Tagg Haynes nailed a triple for three points and Kaleb Meredith contributed two points.

Baptist Prep Lady Eagles 44
The Glen Rose Lady Beavers kept a tight match-up to suffer a tough defeat against Baptist Prep, 44-37.
For the game, Lady Beavers’ Makayla Stevens displayed a phenomenal shooting performance as the game’s high-scorer with 18 points and drained four triples for double-figures. Ashlee Stafford and Sydney Riggan followed with seven points apiece, Maci Carver nailed a triple for three points, CJ Mccullough and Laney Crutchfield each had two points apiece.
For Baptist Prep, three Lady Eagles posted in double-figures— Josie Stewart led the way with 12 points, Mattie
Sandage followed with 11 points and Hope Burnette finished with 10 points.
CONSOLATION ROUND
Girls Consolation Ouachita Lady Warriors 42
Christian Ministries Academy 37
The Ouachita Lady Warriors came out victorious in a five-point win against Christian Ministries Academy 4237. For the game, Lady Warriors’ Emma Williams (two triples) and Delaney Daniell led the way both dropping 12 points apiece. Grace Baker nailed a triple for seven points, Emma Kyzer added six points, Olivia Waters had three points and Baylee Slate chipped in two points.
Boys Consolation Ouachita Warriors 38 Bearden 46
The Ouachita Warriors fell short to Bearden, 46-38 in their consolation game on Saturday. Warriors’ Rhett Lee led the way with 12 points and sank three triples for double-figures—big man Tanner Furr posted eight points, Kelton Fowler and Brayln Maynard each added four points, Caden Lee finished with five points, Tanner Wilson knocked down a triple for three points and Colton Braswell had two points.
Also, in consolation round action, the Centerpoint Knights topped Parkers Chapel, 60-25.
