Barrett, Lowe named finalists for Farm Bureau Insurance football awards
LITTLE ROCK - Despite Poyen’s heartbreaking loss last week in the semifinals of the 2A State Playoffs, their star-studded senior quarterback Colton Lowe and head coach Vick Barrett have been named one of three finalists for Hoo- ten’s Arkansas Football 2021 Farm Bureau Insurance Awards. Indians leading rusher and end zone performer, is a finalist for the 2A Offensive Player of the Year.
As a postseason star, Lowe displayed a monster performance by exploding for five touchdowns scored with 200 plus yards against Dierks in the second round of the 2A state playoffs. Along with leading the Indians throughout the season—recording several multiple touchdowns of four and five as well as being an asset defensively for the Tribe. Last week, Lowe charged the Indians with two rushing touchdowns and passed for one TD against the top-ranked Mccrory Jaguars in last Friday’s semifinal matchup.
Head Indian and commander-in-chief [Vick] Barrett has changed the football culture in Poyen. Barrett continues to lead the Indians with valuable success along with an outstanding assistant coaching staff that is making noise for their football program. During Barrett’s run as head coach, last season, the Indians recorded a season best 10-2 overall record. The Indians surpassed its most advancement through the postseason the last two seasons while Barrett has been head coach.
According to the Hooten’s Arkansas Football, “The Farm Bureau Insurance Awards honor Arkansas’ top offensive player, defensive player and coach of the year for each classification. The veteran staff at Hooten’s Arkansas Football selects three finalists for each category, and those 45 finalists and their families were invited to attend the Farm Bureau Insurance Awards on Monday, December 13.”
