The Bricks reaches fundraising goal

-

The Bricks Skatepark in Malvern has been making significant strides over the past couple of months. After the plans were announced, the park has seen an outcry of support.

In mid-nov. citizens of Malvern came together and attended a work day for the new skatepark. Lance Brownfield, one of the main individuals behind the park, voiced his pride in the amount of volunteers at the event by writing “The good people of Malvern have made it abundantly clear that they are willing to do what it takes to make change happen in the city.”

On Nov. 17, Brownfield announced a Gofundme account for the park with a goal of $1,000. Yesterday, Brown announced that the amount had been reached and released the following statement:

“WE DID IT!

I want to thank everyone who gave and helped us get started. We have smashed our goal of $1,000 and money keeps coming in. We are fortunate enough that the city has donated some bricks and some concrete barriers that we can use to create our first ramp.

We are setting up an account now to withdraw the funds and we will be using the first bit to buy materials to make a quarter pipe. Hopefully one of the local concrete companies and construction companies will help us in our initial build, but if not, we have enough to get things going. We will be scheduling a work day for some time in December or January.

Thanks again to all those who have supported, donated and shared our cause. This is just the beginning to an awesome project for Malvern.”

The park is still scheduled to open on Jan. 1. For more updates on the park progress, follow The Natural Skate on Facebook.
