Former Lady Warrior making an impact on the college hardwood stage at Crowley’s Ridge College
Former Ouachita Lady Warrior standout Lizzy Rowton has made an impact on the collegiate level since joining the Crowley’s Ridge College Lady Pioneers basketball program.
Rowton signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Crowley’s Ridge College and join the Lady Pioneers collegiate athletic program back in the spring 2021.
She has performed productively in her first season as a college student-athlete on the hardwood. The Lady Pioneers have secured several early season victories and Rowton has been a part of the team’s success.
According to the CRC Sports Information Department, Rowton contributed productively in several early season victories for the Lady Pioneers. She scored in double-figures with 10 points in the Lady Pioneers victory against Ecclesia College 81
47. She also scored a season-high 13 points to help surge the Lady Pioneers top Stephens 78
71. Rowton also recorded a season-high six assists in the Lady Pioneers 82-53 win against Mississippi University for Women.
Throughout her first 10 games as a Lady Pioneer, Rowton has averaged 6. 2 ppg., shooting percent 30.8, 5.5 rebounds ppg., and 3.2 assist ppg.
She had a remarkable high school basketball career as a Ouachita Lady Warrior under the direction of head coach Corey Brown.
During Rowton’s senior season for the Lady Warriors, she averaged 15.5 ppg., 6.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.6 deflections, and 4.1 steals. Rowton scored 541 points, had 145 steals, 92 deflections, 131 assists, and 239 rebounds this past season for 2020-2021.
To highlight a few memorable moments she scored a career-high 32 points in a triple-overtime showdown against Magnet Cove—then surpassed the 1,500 points mark to lead Ouachita in victory.
For Rowton’s high school basketball career, she scored 1,586 points, had 394 steals, 309 deflections, 264 assists, and grabbed 813 rebounds.
She earned All-state, All-conference honors, and was named All-region for the third consecutive year and twice to the All-state Tournament Team.
The Lady Pioneers athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics—naia.
Crowley’s Ridge College presents a background that believes to lead and encourage all students to use their various experiences as students toward building a philosophy of life which is consistent with Christian ideals and will lead them into a future of service to God and community.
It’s noted by the college that its purpose is for students to achieve goals to develop skills in how to acquire, evaluate, and make use of knowledge and to solve problems individually and with others; to develop a basic desire for the pursuit of knowledge; and to prepare students to transfer for advanced studies.
