Malvern, Glen Rose, Magnet Cove squads finish strong in holiday hoops at Sheridan
SHERIDAN — During the Christmas holiday break, area in-county hoopsters of Malvern, Glen Rose and Magnet Cove all engaged in tough competitions on the hardwood while competing in the 2021 Sheridan Holiday Invitational Classic for senior high boys and girls basketball competition at the Yellowjacket

Holiday Invitational Classic honored a recipient for the Hustle and MVP after each game throughout the three days of basketball competition.
Since all area teams competed during Day 1 and Day 2 of hoop competition, their final day of action concluded last Thursday for Day 3 with competitive battles.
For the senior high boys games, the hometown Malvern Leopards sought revenge against in-county rivals’ Glen Rose to tip-off the Day 3 hoop action. The Leopards topped the Beavers 46
36.
The game’s Hustle award recipient was Glen Rose’s Cohen Carter and Malvern’s Dyelon Caradine received the MVP award.
The Magnet Cove Panthers pulled off a nine-point victory against Sheridan Yellowjacket’s JV 48-39. Magnet Cove’s Evin Ashcraft received the game’s MVP award.
For senior high girls games, the Magnet Cove Lady Panthers competed hard in a tough defeat to Rison 54-46. Magnet Cove Lady Panther hoopster Marleigh McCutcheon received the Hustle award for her performance.
Meanwhile, the Glen Rose Lady Beavers came out victorious against the Sheridan Yellowjackets JV 41-26. Lady Beavers’ Makayla Stevens earned the MVP award as the game’s overall top performer.

Now the second half of the 2021-2022 basketball season is ready to resume for new year hoop action tonight with conference play.
The Malvern Leopards and Lady Leopards will travel to Fountain Lake—the Glen Rose Beavers and Lady Beavers are home against Centerpoint at Glen Rose Sports Arena—meanwhile the Magnet Cove Panthers and Lady Panthers will host Dierks for home action at Magnet Cove Gymnasium.
