Louise Mcadoo

-

Louise was born on May 18, 1936 in Sparkman, AR to the late Oscar

Henderson and Idonia Williams Henderson. She was united in marriage to

the late L. C. Mcadoo for fifty years. She united with Mt. Zion Baptist

Church, where she served faithfully until her passing. Louise Mcadoo was

a faithful and diligent member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church,

where she served on the Kitchen Committee, in the Missionary Society,

and on the Usher Board. Assisted with the upkeep of Perla Cemetery. Her

love for Christ and her love for food service was exemplified in her

commitment to taking care of the needs of the sick and shut in and for

those who had experienced loss. She was the missionary’s missionary and

while she herself did not eat meat, she was an exemplary , seasoned

cook. She often provided families hot meals, before, during and after

funerals and ensured the needs of the family were met. At Thanksgiving

and Christmas, she organized food boxes for the sick and shut in for

many years, she oversaw a monthly food distribution to the sick and shut

in with a hot meal on the Second Sunday for over fifteen years. She

once said that when she was younger and experienced a traumatic event,

that people did not believe or listen to her story. That impacted her in

many ways. Therefore in her later years, using her voice to tell the

truth was an important part of her identity and one she adhered to

tirelessly. She never failed to encourage and admonish, sometimes at the

same time! She spoke from the heart. Louise often said she loved her

Pastor and was many times the first to call to share news of persons

needing support or the hospital, or to share a concern regarding the

needs of the church. She was his “Secret Deacon.” Louise exemplified

the Mission of the Church and offered herself in service both to the

Lord and to the Church. Louise was a true friend you could always call

on, with a listen ear and words of wisdom. Louise was preceded in death
