Mccutcheon drops 17 for Lady Panthers in tough home loss to Lady Outlaws, 49-45

MAGNET COVE — With a tied ball game at 38-38 after three quarters of action, the visiting Dierks Lady Outlaws escaped with a fourpoint victory 49-45 against the Magnet Cove Lady Panthers in their conference match-up Tuesday at PPRD Magnet Cove Gymnasium.

The Lady Outlaw’s Caleigh Manning finished the night with a huge 26 point-performanc­e and drilled three triples to squeeze Dierks past Magnet Cove.

Allie Mcconnell added 13 points and Sydney Mounts had 10 points to account for all of the Lady Outlaws scoring.

Down to the 5:26 mark in the first quarter, the Lady Panthers sparked early to a 7-2 advantage led by a productive shooting display from Marleigh Mccutcheon—who opened the game’s scoring by swishing a triple beyond the arc.

True-freshman point guard Ella Williamson also knocked down a first quarter triple, but the Lady Outlaws rallied back to outscore Magnet Cove for a one-point lead over the Lady Panthers 15-14 at the end of the first quarter. Magnet Cove bounced back in the second and poured 16 points to overcome their one-point deficit and led at the break, 30-26. The Lady Outlaws accounted for 23 points in the second half, while the Lady Panthers poured 15 points for third and fourth quarters combined. For the game, Lady Panthers’ Mccutcheon led their surge with 17 points as the lone Magnet Cove hoopster posting in double-figures.

Bella Harville followed with eight points off the bench. Brianna Ramthun and Haley Mccauley blazed the net with a triple from beyond the arc. True-freshman Neaira Walls and Haylie Helton with Maddie Lawrence each contribute­d scoring buckets around the paint area from the field.

The Lady Panthers will travel to Murfreesbo­ro for conference play Friday.
