Mary Lou Wallis
Mary Lou Wallis, 91, of Magnet Cove went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 7, 2022. She was born in Arkadelphia, AR on July 22, 1930. Mary Lou was the daughter of the late Oscar and Fannie Hudspeth Dalton. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harlie Lonard Wallis; daughter, Relda Wallis Bennett; brother, Oscar “Bobbie” Dalton, Jr. and infant sister, Lucille Geraldine Dalton.
Mary Lou graduated with a BSE from Henderson State University. She taught school and worked at night in adult education helping others earn their GED, while continuing to earn her Master Degree in Administration. After graduation, Mary Lou served as Principle in the Glen Rose School District and later retired from the Hot Springs School District. She worked for 38 years in public education. Upon retirement, Mary Lou continued serving her community as the Director of the Hot Spring County Boys and Girls Club. Mary Lou was a member of Magnet Cove Missionary Baptist Church and active in the Ladies Auxiliary. She loved quilting and traveling but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Rosemary Wallis Butler and Rita Wallis Ferguson ( Jim); son- inlaw, Dave Bennett; grandchildren, Meshelle Jones ( Wade), Scott Bennett ( Candy), Jody Bennett ( Shannon), Dede Haynes ( Randy), Brandi Martin ( Drew), Gabe Herrington ( Heather), Cody Ferguson ( Alex) and Jaede Ferguson; great grandchildren, Sara Bennett, Lane Bennett, Lora Bennett, Carson Haynes, Jackson Haynes, Grace Martin, Emma Herrington, Hadley Herrington and Ava Herrington.
Services will be held on Wednesday, January 12 at 2: 00pm at Regency Funeral Home with Brother Ronnie Hardin officiating. Burial will follow at Magnet Cove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wade Jones, Scott Bennett, Jody Bennett, Randy Haynes, Drew Martin, Gabe Herrington and Cody Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers are the nurses and staff of Encore Healthcare and Rehabilitation.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Step in Malvern.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Encore Nursing and Rehabilitation for their loving care.
