H.S.C. Homeless Coalition receives large donation
The Malvern Ministers Conference met with members of the Hot Spring County Homeless Coalition to present the local nonprofit organization with a check for $1,200. The presentation took place Sunday, Jan. 9 at First Baptist Church on Vine Street.
Pastors Kevin and Shonte Foster of Revive Church on MLK Blvd, two of the newest members of the ministerial group, are excited to be join other local religious leaders in promoting love, compassion, and charity for the neediest citizens of Hot Spring County.
Shonte and her husband began serving the Revive congregation two years ago, but the pandemic put a damper on their initial efforts to integrate into the Malvern community. The church was formerly known as Full Gospel Church and is still a satellite location of the Full Gospel Ministries, but the Fosters are eager to put their stamp on the ministry, get involved in the community, and welcome new parishioners.
“We’re kind of new to the community, but definitely, we’re looking to get involved, especially with the Homeless Coalition, that’s a big part of my husband’s heart. He’s always looking for a way to help those in need,” Shonte said.
After the presentation Sunday, the Coalition stated on their Facebook page, “What a blessing today from the Malvern Minister’s Conference! Their donation will help provide shelter for the homeless in Hot Spring County. Very much appreciated by all of us!”
The Coalition will be overseeing the Point-in-time Count taking place Jan. 27. Volunteers will be providing hot meals, resources, and information on available assistance while they attempt to conduct an accurate count and survey of all local people who are dealing with sheltering issues or concerns. The event will take place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Ouachita River Fellowship/cup of Water at 506 E. Page Ave.
