Lady Warriors capture conference championsh­ip, stormed through league competitio­n unbeaten

DONALDSON — Once again, the Ouachita Lady Warriors softball team has secured league championsh­ip accolades from their production on the diamond for the 2022 season under the direction of head coach Corey Brown.

The Lady Warriors have claimed the regular season conference championsh­ip title and didn’t surrender a run in league play by their overall team dominance. For a notable stat line—the Lady Warriors only allowed three runs and 31 batters striking out— out scoring their conference opponents 41-0.

Recently, the Lady Warriors captured two impressive home victories to spark a witnessing flame of productive team execution as a top contender in Class 1A. Monday, the Lady Warriors shut down Kirby 16-0 in four innings. The Lady Warriors tallied 16 runs on 15 hits and defensivel­y held Kirby scoreless on two hits.

Emma Williams led the offensive spark and collected three hits and drove in four runs for four RBIS. Rayna La Salle, Raylee Slate, Jenna Schweitzer, Chloe Ashcraft, and Josie Stafford each powered a hit apiece. Grace Baker and Maddie Fulmer each connected in the frame for a hit. Slate and Baker drove in three RBIS, La Salle, Ashcraft, and Stafford each sparked for an RBI apiece.

La Salle and Baker led the scoring opportunit­ies and scored three runs apiece, while Williams, Ashcraft and Stafford all

rounded around the bases for two runs apiece. Schweitzer added to Ouachita’s scoring and soared to home plate for a run.

Then Tuesday, for senior night the Lady Warriors topped the Centerpoin­t Lady Knights 9-1 in a seven inning contest at Lady Warrior Field. The Lady Warriors tallied nine runs on nine hits while the Lady Knights sparked for a run on three hits in defeat.

Offensivel­y, Slate powered the offensive execution with three hits, Chloe Palmer and Baker each collected two hits apiece and Fulmer and Ashcraft drilled a hit in the batter’s box. Slate drove in two runs for two RBIS, Williams, Fulmer, Ashcraft and Baker each sparked for an RBI. La Salle and Slate each scored two runs, Schweitzer, Palmer, Baker and Stafford each routed around the bases for a run.

In the pitcher’s circle, Fulmer brought the heat and earned the victory by pitching a complete game that ignited the strike zone.

UP NEXT

The Lady Warriors will enter district tournament competitio­n next week hosted at Mount Ida.
