Minge powers Lady Leopards to dominate road win against Fountain Lake 20-2

HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK — The hometown Malvern Lady Leopards only needed three innings of productive play in their softball matchup on the diamond Friday that led to a 20-2 road victory against the Fountain Lake Lady Cobras.

The Lady Leopards had their offensive execution progressin­g to spark for 20 runs on 11 hits while defensivel­y held the Lady Cobras to two runs on three hits—resulting in Malvern sweeping the conference series meeting.

As a result, the Lady Leopards have ignited a three-game winning streak.

Leading the Lady Leopard spark was Katelyn Minge who shined in a big way and hammered two home runs and drove in a season-high 10 runs for 10 RBIS to create some noise in the batter’s box. Katelyn Minge also finished the outing with three hits and scored two runs for a topnotch performanc­e. Following Katelyn’s lead was Emi l y Minge and Aeling Saling (double) both collecting two hits apiece with the four star-studded performers of Audrey Carr, Lauren “LG” Golden (double), Josie Nix and Isabella Roseberry (double) each powered in the frame with a hit. The trio of Carr, Golden, and Roseberry each drove in two runs for two RBIS apiece and Saling had one RBI. Leading the scoring surge was the speedy quickness of Chasney Cooper routing around the bases to ignite four runs at home plate, Ashlyn “AJ” Fike scored three runs, while the core of Carr, Golden, Saling with K. Minge all soared for two runs and Hannah Carey, Emily Minge, Nix, Jenna Joynt and Lainee Burnett all sparked for a run apiece. Cooper also had two stolen bases with Nix accounting a stolen base to lead the base running.

In the pitcher’s circle, Carr earned the victory and put the heat on for two innings, giving up three hits, two runs and struck out two batters and threw 29 strikes across the plate. Katelyn Minge pitched one inning, struck out one batter and threw six strikes from her work in the circle.

UP NEXT

If weather permits and field conditions are playable today, the Lady Leopards are scheduled to travel to Bauxite for a dandy league series finale against the Lady Miners as Malvern aims to avenge their loss from the first meeting.
