The road to the state championsh­ip begins for HSC

MALVERN, BISMARCK AND OUACHITA AIM FOR STATE TITLES REPRESENTI­NG HOT SPRING COUNTY

The destiny of champions on the diamond has finally arrived and Hot Spring County is represente­d throughout the Natural State in the 2022 Class 4A, 3A, and 1A State Tournament­s. A fantastic four of this year’s “Mount Rushmore” in-county teams—the hometown Malvern Lady Leopards, Bismarck Lady Lions, Ouachita Warriors and Lady Warriors all are aiming for historic destiny’s to fulfill in their quest to capture state title hardware in postseason state tournament competitio­n. They have all taken care of business at regionals as state tournament qualifiers and are ready to present a little taste of Hot Spring County competitiv­eness to the state’s best competitio­n.

It’s a new season and these four in-county teams representi­ng the area all have one goal in common—win state.

The hometown Malvern Lady Leopards softball team are taking their talents to Nashville to compete in the 2022 Class 4A State Softball Tournament. The Lady Leopards finished the 2022 4A South Region Tournament third overall to secure the No. 3 seed and face No. 2 seed Farmington in their first round.

The Bismarck Lady Lions also finished third at the 3A-4 Region Tournament hosted in Ashdown. As a No. 3 seed, the Lady Lions will face off against No. 2 seed Atkins where the 3A State Softball Tournament is hosted at Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison.

For a sweet treat, the Ouachita Warriors and Lady Warriors have their destiny’s close at home in their backyard as the host teams of the 2022 Class 1A State Baseball and Softball Tournament­s. Ouachita will host baseball games at Warrior Field and at the Arkadelphi­a Youth Sports Complex. The top-seed Ouachita Warriors are set to face their No. 4 seed Guy-perkins. The Warriors had a successful journey defending their regional tournament title and captured back-to-back titles for 2021 and 2022. This is a consecutiv­e season the Warriors have clinched a state tournament berth and look to have an extended journey past the first round and go all the way as a contender in Class 1A.

The No. 3 seed Lady Warriors have returned to the big dance of softball and will compete in Arkadelphi­a at the AYSC in the Class 1A State Softball Tournament. The Lady Warriors will face off against No. 2 seed Wonderview in their opening round in the state tournament.

The road to the championsh­ip begins today and the in-county teams—malvern, Bismarck, and Ouachita all aim to end their journey on top and compete in four more final games The state tournament and postseason is authorized by the Arkansas Activities Associatio­n and scheduled May 5-7.

All tickets for the State & Regional Tickets will be sold online. No paper tickets will be sold at the gate. You must show your digital ticket at the gate. Printed tickets will not be accepted. AAA Passes will be accepted as long as the venue has not reached capacity in pre-sold tickets or actual attendance. A ticket is required for ages 5 and up.
