The Ouachita Warriors made the 2022 baseball season an historic year on the diamond.

Despite the Warriors falling short to capture the state championship, this year marked a school record for wins in their baseball program under head coach Anthony Nail. The season presented several achievements earned by the team and Nail felt this year was very successful. “I’m very proud of the season we had,” Nail said.

“This team was a joy to be around and made every day at the ballpark a fun one— We accumulated tons of a c col ade s : conference, district, and regional champs, state semifinalists, a 25-8 record (school record for wins), and a 31day stretch where we won 13 games in a row.”

to overcome adversity throughout a long stretch of games to finish the year with a 20 plus win season—that led to their journey just one game away from making the 1A state championship.

Nail was really proud of their courage and dedication to excel on the diamond together as a productive team.

“Mostly, though, I’m proud of how our players developed as men in preparation for their entry into the “real world,” which is right now for our seniors,” Nail said.

The Warriors two seniors Riley Adams and Bralyn Maynard will finish out their high school baseball careers a part of history in the school’s athletic program.

After coaching his two seniors for the last time after Saturday’s state semifinals game, Nail noted, “I’m proud of all these boys but these two seniors in particular for how much they’ve grown as men in the time that I have been lucky enough to call myself their coach.”

He added, “The longer I coach, I realize more and more how relationships are the most integral part of coaching. I hope every player I’ve ever coached knows how much I care deeply about them, especially the ones who played for me before I understood how important it was to communicate it to them.”
