Fendley chosen as MCCLA scholarship recipient

- Special to the MDR

The Malvern Country Club Ladies Auxiliary awarded its first ever scholarship to Erin Fendley, a senior at Bismarck High School.

The MCCLA formed a scholarship committee and those members read over applications and voted on the recipient.

“We are extremely proud to be able to give this scholarship to a graduating senior in our community. We formed the MCCLA a couple of years ago and have been fundraising through our annual golf tournament and at several MCC golf tournaments throughout the year,” noted by the committee.

Scholarship Criteria: The determining factors for receiving the Malvern Country Club Ladies Auxiliary Scholarship include financial need, the ability to succeed, community involvement, and goals for the future and academic success. The recipient will be chosen based on any and/or all of these factors.

Scholarship Scope:

The Malvern Country Club Ladies Auxiliary Scholarship will award one scholarship for the 2022-2023 academic year.

The scholarship will not continue throughout the recipient’s college attendance. The scholarship will be made in one payment to the college or university that the recipient will attend. Applicants had to submit an application with their academic and financial information, two letters of recommendation, their transcript and a one-page essay about their educational plans and goals. “Our mission is to give back to our community, and especially to kids, through events like our Back to School pool party, the fall festival, sponsoring many Angel tree families at Christmas, adopting law enforcement officers, and things along those lines. We have been saving so we could start this scholarship and we hope to be able to give it for many years to come.

We are truly grateful to those in our community who have supported us by sponsoring our tournament, donating prizes, buying raffle tickets, volunteering at our events, etc. All of this makes our philanthropies possible and we are so appreciative.”
