Mary Cothern

Mary Elizabeth Cothern Holmes age 73 of Malvern passed June 3, 2022. Mary was born June 15, 1948 in Malvern to George “Clyde” and Velma Railey Cothern. Mary was of the Baptist faith, a dispatcher for Malvern Police Department for 3 years, Bryant Police Department for 3 years and the Arkansas State Police for 16 years. Mary loved to put up Christmas lights in her yard, take care of her plants, go to flea markets and auctions. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers; George Milton Cothern and Douglas Cothern.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Holmes of Malvern; daughter, Paula Hughes of Malvern; stepsons, T.J. (Ginger) Holmes of Malvern and Ernie Holmes of Malvern; three brothers, Bill (Nancy) Cothern of Shreveport LA, Herman Cothern of Austin TX and Paul Cothern of Malvern; three sisters, Linda (Warren) Coston of Malvern, Nancy (Glen) Moring of Jonesboro and Cindy (Dennis) Hedges of Malvern; grandson, Eddie Hughes of Poyen; granddaughter, Jenna Holmes of Malvern; great granddaughter, Macey Hughes and numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Max.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday June 15 at 11:00am at Regency Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Rev. Keith Pennington will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Arkansas State Police Troop K.

In Lieu of flowers memorial may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude PL, Memphis TN 38105.
