Kelly Smoke

Kelly David Smoke, 76 of Malvern Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on June 11, 2022, in Little Rock Veterans Hospital. Kelly was born November 8, 1945, in Magnet Cove to Rubin and Ella Jean Smoke.

Kelly was a member of Reyburn Creek Missionary Baptist Church, a devoted husband, and father. Kelly joined the Army and volunteere­d for service in the Vietnam War, and after active duty he transferre­d to the Army National Guard until 1984. Kelly was a very proud Veteran and loved his Country. He was a member of VFW Post 4546, lifetime member of both the VFW and DAV, and after his military service he continued to serve his community through the Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Patrol#324, and as a volunteer firefighte­r for 20 years. Kelly retired from Lowe’s Home Improvemen­ts after 17 years. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, wood working, playing horseshoes with family and friends, and enjoying classic Westerns.

Kelly is preceded in death by his parents Rubin and Ella Jean Smoke; son Adam David Smoke; brothers D.W. Smoke, Wilbur Carol Smoke; sisters Eva Mae Wells and Hazel Nolen.

Kelly is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sandy Smoke; daughter Karen Stine (James); sister Patricia Veazey; brother Warren Smoke (Susan); grandchild­ren Haleigh Helmick (Josh) and Jaren William Kelly Stine, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family.

Pallbearer­s: Jaren Stine, Tony Simmons, Josh Helmick, Damon Dyer, Dennis Veazey, Robert Fulton, and Shane Johnston. Honorary Pallbearer­s: Norman Hill, Craig Cowart, DAV, VFW, North Little Rock VA 1- Delta Unit, and Dialysis Team, Little Rock VA Dialysis and Palliative Care Teams.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 16, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Friday, June 17, 2022, at 9:00 AM at Atkinson Chapel with Bro. Todd Bray officiatin­g.

Interment to follow at Magnet Cove Cemetery with Military Honors.

The family would be honored to have any Veterans, Law Enforcemen­t or Firefighte­rs to join the procession from the funeral home to graveside.

The family is requesting privacy in the days following funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Reyburn Creek Missionary Baptist Church building fund.
