VITA Tax Preparation
Hot Springs, AR – United Way of the Ouachitas will host its third annual Super Tax Saturday on Saturday, February 4th, 2023 from 8:30 am - 12:00 pm. Super Tax Saturday is United Way’s kick- off event to the VITA tax preparation season. In partnership with Entergy Arkansas United Way of the Ouachitas’ Virtual VITA site allows participants to bring their documents to the Financial Empowerment Center and wait in their vehicles until their tax return has been completed. The process will take approximately 6090 minutes depending on the difficulty of the return. The process is described below:
Arrive at the United Way of the Ouachitas located at 233 Hobson Avenue between the hours of 8:30 am - 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 4th, 2023. Individuals may also call 501.623.2505 to set up an appointment to file their returns on an alternative date. The same measures of safety will be followed for future virtual tax preparation services.
Upon your arrival, our staff will greet you at your vehicle and provide you with an intake form to complete. All filers must bring a photo ID, social security card, and all necessary tax documents for each individual on the return. We ask that you wait in your vehicle while we complete your taxes.
Once the return has been completed, we will review the completed return with you in your vehicle. If filing a joint return, your spouse must be present to sign off on the joint return. Upon your approval, we will e-file your federal and state returns and will provide you with a copy to take home.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $55,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. Irs-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. United Way will prepare taxes for individuals through April 18, 2023, but encourage filers not to wait until the last minute to file.
