Lions win big on road, fall short in home hoops
BISMARCK — The Bismarck Lions split conference hoops in their back-to-back match-ups on the road in recent senior high boys basketball competition. The Lions topped Genoa Central on the road, but fell short in their Saturday home match-up falling to Jessieville.
LIONS 64 GENOA CENTRAL DRAGONS 37
The Lions roared victorious on the road Friday to slay down the Genoa Central Dragons 64-37. Carson House led the way with an impressive 19 points with three rebounds while Ian Smith poured in 10 points with seven rebounds and four assists for double-figures. Eli Van Wie chipped in nine points and had three steals, Nick Tucker scored seven points with five rebounds— Gabe Digiacomo added seven points with eight rebounds off the glass. Kalem Rorie contributed seven points with three rebounds, and two steals and two assists— Riley Tuttle had four points with three rebounds and Ben Keithley finished with two points.
LIONS 54 JESSIEVILLE 67
In an intense Lion vs. Lion match-up at the famous Holt Gymnasium Saturday, the Bismarck Lions came out with a huge first quarter lift to lead Jessieville 1714 during the first eight minutes of game action for the first quarter. But, in the second period, Jessieville outscored the Lions 20-9. At the break, Jessieville took a slim 34-26 lead into the locker room against the Lions for the halftime score.
In the second half, the Lions came out with the roar and poured 18 points on the scoreboard in the third quarter. Jessieville sparked for a 12-point scoring period in the third to only lead Bismarck 46-44 at the end of three periods. In the fourth quarter, the game kept a close pace but the visiting Jessieville Lions took a double-digit lead down 57-46 at the 5:58 mark over Bismarck. From that point, Jessieville coasted away to secure victory down the stretch with the Holt Gymnasium Lions pouring eight points through the basket and falling short for the 13-point defeat.
For the game, Jessieville’s Noah Futch was the game’s showcase hoopster to net a remarkable 53 point performance to lead all scorers in double-figures.
Bismarck had three Lion hoopsters score in double-digits—house led the way with 16 points and buried four triples from 3-point land, Smith and Vanwie each added 12 points apiece. Digiacomo and Tucker each had six points apiece.

The Bismarck Lions are scheduled to travel for conference hoops tonight facing Harmony Grove. Due to expected inclement weather conditions, the match-up may be canceled and rescheduled for a later date.
