Ramthun drops 10 to lead Lady Panthers in home loss to England

MAGNET COVE — The Magnet Cove Lady Panthers had a tough home task in their conference match-up hosting the England Lady Lions for a Friday night contest of senior high girls basketball competitio­n.

The Lady Panthers’ senior hoopster Brianna Ramthun led the spark of execution for the PPRD lady hoopsters and finished with 10 points for double-figures, but the Lady Lions came out victorious for a 70-50 road victory in Panther Country.

England took control in the first quarter to outscore Magnet Cove 19-9 and hand the Lady Panthers an early 10-point deficit going into the second period.

The Lady Panthers posted 10 points in the second, but the Lady Lions sparked for 15 points added on their side of the scoreboard—taking a 34-19 halftime lead over the Lady Panthers.

In the second half, England combined for 36 points despite the Lady Panthers pouring 31 points for the third and fourth quarter scoring.

For the game, Lady Panthers’ Marleigh McCutcheon and Haley McCauley added nine points apiece— McCutcheon drilled two triples and Mccauley netted one triple from beyond the arc.

Izzy Sawyer and Emily Cook each poured in eight points apiece while inside post player Neaira Stringer contribute­d six points from the field.

England had three Lady Lions post double-figures—taniyah Carter finished as the game’s overall top-performer and led all scorers with a big 22 points, Jordan Blake followed with 15 points and Madi Bryant poured in 14 points.

Tonight, if weather permits, the Lady Panthers are returning to home hoops to host Jacksonvil­le Lighthouse to conclude their conference season match-ups in Panther Country at Magnet Cove Gymnasium.
