FOUKE — Tonight, the No. 2 seeded Glen Rose Lady Beavers are ready for a highly anticipated grudge match-up to take on No. 1 seed and 3A state ranked Fouke Lady Panthers in the championship game in the 3A-7 Senior High Girls District Basketball Tournament hosted in Fouke.

The girls championship game tips off at 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Beavers have already qualified to make their regional tournament appearance after finishing the 3A-7 Conference second— earning the No. 2 seed for the district tournament.

Thursday night, the Lady Beavers prevailed against Jessieville 41-27 in the girls semifinal round at district.

The stout play of hot shooting and key defensive execution made the difference in a productive 14-point victory against a talented Jessieville squad.

Lady Beaver hoopsters’ Makayla Stevens and Sydney Riggan led the way in double-figures. Stevens poured in 15 points and swished four triples from beyond the arc—riggan followed and hit two triples from 3-point land to net 12 points for the Lady Beavers. Ashlee Stafford played her key role and contributed six points to still have an impact. Stafford has been the team’s top scorer and performer this season to have a scoring average in double-figures—igniting multiple games of 20 plus point scoring. Zavery May added a five piece of points scored through the basket and Maci Carver hit a triple for three points to spark the Lady Beavers’ play in tournament hoops.

The Lady Beavers have surpassed the 20 wins mark led by head coach Devin Jones in his first season coaching the senior high girls basketball program. Jones have led the Beavers to district tournament title glory in past seasons and is now on the verge to take down the Lady Beavers on that path if successful tonight against Fouke.

The Lady Beavers had a classic match-up against Fouke the last time they met in Glen Rose.

The Lady Panthers edged off the Lady Beavers by a one-point win—42-41 in their conference duel at the Glen Rose Sports Arena.

The Lady Panthers managed to top the Lady Beavers 52-45 in their final match-up in league hoops in Fouke.

The Lady

Beavers will bring back some trophy hardware but aim to take the ultimate title in a tough championship match-up as the two top seeds in the girls 3A-7 Conference collide in the finals—no. 1 vs. No. 2 ready for a brawl of intense hoops in Miller County.

The Lady Beavers improved to 21-6 overall.
