First Presbyterian Church

- By Gerren Smith Staff Writer

First Presbyterian Church, commonly called FPC Malvern, is located between the Post Office and the new El Parian restaurant on Martin Luther King Blvd. We have been around since 1882 and recently celebrated our 140th anniversary. Having a rich history in disaster assistance, being known for our annual Holy Week services, and hosting the annual Martin Luther King Great Gathering worship service, we have been growing young as of late and we have rebranded with a new church logo. Our main news is that we have recently expanded our programs to include an after-school kids’ program on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month (typically) that includes crafts, children’s music and ukulele lessons, play, and a Bible lesson leading up to our Fellowship dinners at 5:30 p.m. on those weeks. God has blessed us with a lot of young children in the past 8 years and they keep coming so we are building programs and expanding Sunday School classes to accommodate the growth. We held two different Vacation Bible School programs this past year: A Food Truck Party in the summer and a Journey to Bethlehem in December. We’ve also been investing in our choir and music department and host beautiful worship music that is a mix of traditional and contemporary worship in our services. Our success is that we are a loving church with four generations represented in our members that are all thriving, enjoy fellowshipping with one another, and are dedicated to loving God and loving one another. Our members live all over Hot Spring County and Garland County and some commute in, so we are present in multiple school systems. We love our communities! You can hear our messages and find out about all our activities on our Facebook page @fpcmalvern. Join us for worship Sundays at 10 am!
