Beavers off to 3-0 start,

Prevail in extra innings against Perryville

PERRYVILLE — The Glen Rose Beavers haven’t tasted defeat thus far into the 2023 baseball season. The Beavers have been blazing on the road to stay on the path of victory after their huge 6-4 win Tuesday against the Perryville Mustangs.

The Beavers’ defense took over in the third through the sixth innings and held the Mustangs scoreless after a 2-2 knot in the first inning.

The Beavers sparked for a run in the top of the second and third innings to take a 4-3 lead. Perryville tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, which al- lowed overdrive play in extra innings. But, it only took one extra inning and the Beavers took care of business to score two winning runs in the top of the eighth, while defensivel­y holding the Mustangs scoreless for the loss.

Glen Rose tallied six runs on six hits while the Mustangs totaled four runs on seven hits with one error.

Offensivel­y, Eden Fite led at the plate with three hits and drove in three runs for three RBI’S. Fite drove in the two winning runs in the eighth inning. Ty Hood collected a hit and went 1-for-2 at the plate with an Rbi—mcspadden sparked and drove in two runs for two RBI’S. Fite, Ballance, Hood, Carson Dhane and Paxton Long each scored runs.

Draven Mcspadden led the defense on the mound and kept the strike zone smoking and struck out 10 batters during his five innings of work to ignite the infield play of execution. Heath Ballance earned the save on the mound.

The Beavers improve to 3-0 overall and look to continue on cruise control thus far into the 2023 baseball season. Glen Rose baseball head coach Joe Lewallen was pleased by the Beavers’ performanc­e and the team’s execution to pull away victorious on the road against a good ball team.

“It was a good win against a good ball team,” Lewallen said. “I think our team has grown by the way we battled through adversity to win,” Lewallen said.

The Beavers are scheduled for home action next week hosting Spring Hill at the Glen Rose Sports Complex.
