Mccutcheon blasts a home run with Lady Panthers defeating Stuttgart

STUTTGART — With a layoff from softball action last week for spring break, the Magnet Cove Lady Panthers executed a standout team victory on the road Tuesday and topped the Stuttgart Lady Ricebirds 6-4 in a seven inning contest in Stuttgart.

Powering the offensive execution was key performer Marleigh Mccutcheon igniting the highlight hit of the outing and blasted a home run. Mccutcheon and Alexa Gangoso led the offense and both sparked for two hits apiece in the frame. Mccutcheon and Bella Harville both had two RBIS, while Gangoso and Kynsli Brashears each had one RBI. Hadley Herrington, Mailyn Tanaka, Maddie Fulmer (a double) and Harville each sparked for a hit apiece. Mailyn Tanaka led the scoring surge and scored two runs, Mccutcheon, Gangoso, Harville and Brashears each scored a run apiece.

Mailyn Tanaka also led the base running and had two stolen bases, Brashears and Herrington each sparked on the base paths for a stolen base.

In the circle, the pitching duo of Fulmer and

Harville ignited the strike zone of victory to showcase two stellar performanc­es. Fulmer earned the victory and pitched four innings, allowed one hit, earned one run and struck out four batters and threw 42 strikes—while Harville pitched three innings, allowed six hits, three earned runs and struck out four batters and threw 39 strikes.

The Lady Panthers, defensivel­y held the Lady Ricebirds scoreless through the third inning and in the fifth—while offensivel­y, Magnet Cove routed two runs in the first, one run in the second and three in the fifth inning. The Lady Ricebirds rallied for a run in the bottom of the sixth and two runs in the seventh, but the Lady Panthers rallied together as a productive force to secure the two-run victory.

Magnet Cove tallied six runs on eight hits while Stuttgart scored four runs on seven hits during their encounter on the diamond.

Today, the Lady Panthers are set to carry their momentum back on the road for a non-conference match-up facing Murfreesbo­ro.
