Shop with a cop
participate in this year’s “Shop with a Cop” event.
How does it work?
Each participant in the 2023 Eastern Sierra Shop with a Cop event will have the opportunity to complete a shopping list of gifts for their family. As the items are received, they are sorted and gift-wrapped by volunteers. On the event day, each participant is picked up at their home by their assigned Law Enforcement Partner and driven to the Eastern Sierra Tri-county Fairgrounds, where the Bishop Lions Club will be cooking their famous pancake breakfast. After breakfast the procession makes the annual ‘Code 3’ ride down Bishop’s Main Street and return to the Fairgrounds for a Christmas party full of games, raffles, activities, and a special visit from Santa before distributing gifts.
Law Enforcement agencies from Inyo and Mono counties participate in this event, including the Mono County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol Bridgeport and Bishop offices, Mono County Probation Department, Mammoth Lakes Police Department, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, U.S. Forest Service, Inyo County Sheriff’s Department, Bishop Police Department, Bishop Paiute Tribal Police Department, Inyo County Probation Department. Eastern Sierra Shop with a Cop is entirely donation-driven, and the continued support from the community, both near and far, each year makes this program successful.
Donations are accepted at the Mono County Sheriff’s Office, Inyo County Sheriff’s Office, Bishop Police Department, and Mammoth Lakes Police Department, as well as the Bishop and Bridgeport Offices for the California Highway Patrol. Please make checks payable to ESPOA (Eastern Sierra Peace Officers Association) with “Shop with a Cop” written in the memo line. ESPOA is a 501(c)3 and donations are tax-deductible.
Santa and local law enforcement officers work together to bring holiday cheer to children and families in need.
